Sean Bean and a bee
I hadn't heard of Jupiter Ascending. Sean Bean has a big bee here, and notice that the interviewer's name is Deborah, which means honey bee: I got suspicious, becaue it looked like photo editing. Turns out, it is:
It's connected to Jupiter Ascending.
But... what if there are deeper connections to Sean Bean, and bees?

Samantha Bee? Samantha Markle's first name is really Yvonne: she changed it!
It seems that there is a web of bee connections. I had no idea there were so many relevant references.

Bees in drink advertisements
Ardent Craft Ales’s logo was featured elsewhere because of royal and Masonic connections. Here it is again, surrounded by others with bee references, with the Blackheath Meadery one in a larger version:

Bees in the Wizard of Oz
The name of the Sussexes’ new dog prompted me to take a look at the Wizard of Oz. I found something interesting. aletheia mentioned Samson and some bees inside a body: “Samson returning to the carcase of the lion he had slain to find a swarm of bees and honey therein. “ In a deleted scene from The Wizard of Oz film, Tinman was turned into a human beehive: “*The Tinman and the Beehive Scene: One scene that was cut that proved the Wicked Witch's powers involved the Tinman after the Wicked Witch of the West said she would turn him into a beehive. In the movie we hear the Tinman say, ‘I'll see you reach the Wizard, whether I get a heart or not. Beehive--bah! Let her try and make a beehive out of me!’ The scene that was cut would have allowed audiences to hear a buzzing sound coming from inside the Tinman. He bangs on his chest only to have the buzzing increase. He coughs and a couple bees fly out of his mouth. Then, a whole swarm of bees fly out of his ears, mouth, and funnel on top of his head.” www.datalounge.com/thread/7802455-wizard-of-oz-1939-question-about-wicked-witch-line

Bees in The Wizard of Oz again
Full details of the deleted scene: "I'll use you for a bee-hive!" During shooting, a scene immediately following If I Only Had a Heart was filmed. Following the Wicked Witch's threatening the trio, a swarm of animated bees would fly out of Tin-Man, the Witch fullfilling her threat of turning him into a bee-hive. As Dorothy runs for cover, the bees try to sting Tin-Man, but bend their stingers on him instead, and fly away in defeat. As Dorothy returns, she discovers a bee on her arm, and the Tin-Man kills it as he tries to get it off of her. He shows his true emotions as the following exchange occurs: TIN MAN: Oh, see - I killed it. Oh, I killed that poor little honey bee! DOROTHY: Oh-oh- TIN MAN: It's only a man without a heart who could do a thing like that. Poor little bee. DOROTHY: Oh, there, there. Don't cry. There. As a matter of fact, that's just an old drone bee, and it would have died anyway. [SHE WIPES AWAY HIS TEARS.] TIN MAN: Yes? DOROTHY: You put it out of its misery. TIN MAN: Oh. DOROTHY: It's just that the Witch is so wicked. I don't think you two ought to come with me because you'll get into trouble. SCARECROW: Oh, you don't think we're going to stand by and let her get away with fireballs and bees, do you? TIN MAN: No, sir! SCARECROW: No, sir! lostmediawiki.com/The_Wizard_of_Oz_-_deleted_scenes_(partially_found_footage_of_musical_fantasy_film;_1939)"Haley, Bolger, and Garland in an early promo shot, set during the deleted bee-hive scene."

Blue Mason Bee
Blue Bee and the Masons are mentioned above. There is actually a species of bee called the Blue Mason. It is just the females that have a blue sheen. The genus is Osmia, which makes me think of L Frank Baum and Princess Ozma!

The horror of the bees
From aletheia : “Biblical references to bees are always negative whereas references to honey are generally positive.” This is strange, as bees are generally portrayed elsewhere as very positive. They are our friends. The only other exception I can find is in some horror stories and films. The film posters look ridiculous, rather like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! Here are some examples:

"Bee is a really unusual family name..."
I thought that too. I wondered whether it was a pseudonym and was B for something e.g. Brown!
However, although I have never come across any, there are thousands of people with the surname Bee on FREEBMD!

Maurice Maeterlinck and the bees
Belgian poet & playwright Maurice Maeterlinck (MM) wrote a book called The Life of the Bee. It is a bit tedious to read, but this extract is interesting: “They have a very nice sense of proportion, and of the space required for the movement of bodies. In the regions where the hideous death's-head sphinx, the acherontia atropos, abounds, they construct little pillars of wax at the entrance of the hive, so restricting the dimension as to prevent the passage of the nocturnal marauder's enormous abdomen.” So bees can be doorkeepers and build entrance barriers?

A green and purple coincidence
From transformer : “This made me think of this image which I initially thought was a bee but it’s a hawk moth but it does bear a resemblance to a bee.“ This was about your Silence of the Lambs poster, which shows what at first sight certainly does look like a bee image but is actually a death’s-head hawk moth. These moths have been mentioned in the post above: they may bear a resemblance to a bee but they are the honey-bees’ biggest predator! Not only that, but some of the caterpillars have a colour combination that has been featured in the Sussexes thread: “The long hot summer has brought a monster caterpillar made famous by The Silence of the Lambs to Britain. The death's head hawk moth caterpillar, a 3in-long purple and green giant that feeds on potato plants and deadly nightshade, was spotted by scientists in Wales. Although the moth is an occasional visitor to Britain, its bright caterpillar is normally found only in Africa and southern Europe.” www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/science-news/3311501/Found-in-Wales-folklores-harbinger-of-death.htmlThe green is very yellowish here, but the purple is purple! By coincidence, the poisonous deadly nightshade is purple and green too:

Strange behaviour by Buddhist bees
Maybe the Bible is not the only place where bees are not always friends to man. This is from 2012, but seems worth putting on here as it is a very rare occurrence: “More than 70 Buddhist monks were hospitalized in northern Thailand Saturday (June 23) after being attacked by a giant swarm of bees, according to news reports. It was unclear what provoked the bees, which were from hives kept at the monks' temple and had never posed a threat previously. Bees from several of the hives attacked the monks while they were sweeping the grounds of the Luang Worawihan temple in Chiang Mai province. Of the 76 monks who had to be rushed to the hospital with stings, 19 were in serious condition and six were in a coma, according to the Deccan Herald… According to Thomas Seeley, an apiologist at Cornell University who studies swarm intelligence, the species involved in the attack was most likely the giant honey bee, Apis dorsata, which is common in Thailand. "It has been described as the most ferocious stinging insect on earth, but it attacks only when disturbed.” www.livescience.com/34028-giant-bee-swarm-attack.htmlNo love and peace there then.

A Taste for Honey
This novella from 1941 is yet another story inspired by Sherlock Holmes. It is about killer bees. They are programmed to destroy people by a mad apiarist. It was published in many editions and is still in print. Two covers I particularly like:

Killer bees in real life
I thought that killer bees existed primarily in horror stories and films, but there are many real-life cases: “A 22-year-old Colombian woman has died after falling off a cliff while fleeing a swarm of killer bees. Paula Andrea Ramos Molina, a forestry engineer, had been part of a team carrying out an assessment in a rural area of the central Colombian district of Caldas. Ms Ramos Molina and three of her colleagues accidentally dislodged a bee hive and were immediately attacked by a swarm of furious insects. They quickly divided into pairs and as Ms Ramos Molina and her colleague fled the killer bees, they fell off a cliff. Ms Ramos Molina broke her neck in the fall and died instantly. Her colleague, who has not been named, suffered severe injuries and multiple bee stings and remains in a 'grave condition' in hospital. Killer bees, also known as 'Africanised bees', are a hybrid of the European honey bee and the larger and more aggressive African honey bee. Killer bees gather in swarms of up to 41,000 insects and have been known to chase people for up to a quarter of a mile. Since their introduction to Brazil, they are believed to be responsible for the deaths of over 1,000 people as well as numerous horses and cows.” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6155453/Woman-falls-death-cliff-fleeing-swarm-killer-bees.htmlBees have killed over 1,000 people in Brazil? This is much worse than the case involving injured Buddhist monks.

Sarah Ferguson and the bee
Prince Andrew, Duke of York’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson had bees embroidered on her wedding dress. This is because a bee on a thistle - and three boars’ heads - appears in the Ferguson family crests, badges and coats of arms etc. There are many different depictions. These two are good examples:

There is a symbolic drawing that relates to the Rosicrucian Order which features bees. Adorned with the words "Dat rosa mel apibus" which means "The rose gives honey to the bees". The rose with the thorny cross below, as represented in this drawing, has an important association with Venus. Putting DAT ROSA MEL APIBUS into a numerology calculator yields 33 for consonants in both Pythagorean & Chaldean systems.

I was vaguely thinking along the lines of imparting secret knowledge to initiates or something like that. I found something that I haven’t got time to go into at the moment, but it looks promising. An extract: “To those unfamiliar with our work, it may seem curious that an occult aspirant should choose the seemingly lowly and unaspiring bee as a symbol of his chosen study. To those who have examined the aims and precepts of occultism more closely, the obvious connection is summarized well by a statement of St. John Chrysostom in his twelfth homily: ‘The bee is more honored than other animals, not because she labors, but because she labors for others.’ Indeed, the bee works unceasingly for the common good of the hive, and obeys without question what sometimes appears to be an inequitable hierarchy.“ www.polarissite.net/symbolism-of-the-bee.htmlUnquestioning obedience is something expected of cult members!

Noel Fielding is a person of interest. He was mentioned on the old forum in connection with Camden, Peaches & Pixie Geldof and Amy Winehouse. He looks rather like those dark young men who all look alike to me!
He has been mentioned in a royal thread because he looks a bit like Frederick Windsor. Doppelgangers indeed!
So now he has a bee connection...

Mithra the lion king
I can’t go into this at the moment, but there is said to be a connection between the Rosicrucians and the Persian Mithraic Mysteries. Mithra was often depicted as a lion. From a very old source: the Lion of Mithra - with a bee in its mouth:

The hexagon used by bees was also used by ancient stonemasons when designing cathedrals. A very symbolic picture:
