Egypt Station by Paul McCartney
Goat, sun, sunflowers, a dog that looks a little like Anubis… so many significant images.  “My original inspiration was similar to a picture we were talking about the other day, with Egyptian symbols and shapes I got from looking at a reference book on Egypt. I was interested in the way they drew sunflowers, so two appear on the left and on the right. It was a nice shape, so I took that and then I also love the way they symbolize trees. I like the way they reduce a tree to just some very simple symbols."-- Paul McCartney

Splendor Solis ancient and modern
Splendor Solis: sun images from the 16th century
From WiKi: “Splendor Solis ("The Splendour of the Sun") is a well-known colorful alchemical text. The earliest version, written in Central German, is dated 1532–1535 and is housed at the Kupferstichkabinett Berlin at State Museums in Berlin. It is illuminated on vellum, with decorative borders like a book of hours, beautifully painted and heightened with gold. The later copies in London, Kassel, Paris and Nuremberg are equally fine. In all twenty copies exist worldwide...The work itself consists of a sequence of 22 elaborate images, set in ornamental borders and niches.” King Charles II is reported to have had a copy in his library. Leonora Carrington and some sun images
Leonora Carrington (1917 – 2011) was a British-born Mexican-based Surrealist sculptor and painter. She created many sun images. I like the contrast between her sweetly smiling golden sun face and the scowling black sun face:   AB EO QUOD (1956).

The god of black sun by 'Ruchiel'
A reptilian goat/lion/ram by an artist from the Czech Republic:  In the artist's own words: “This creature is something like ... mixture of all mystic animals and elements associated with my star sign (Leo, fire), ascendent (Ram, fire) and chinese zodiac (Goat, steel). I drew him already some time ago, but just like random, nameless experiment. Today he finally got name: "Sabnach". It's one from few other names for "Sabnock" aka Great Marquis of Hell. I just randomly searched for some nice looking demon's name, but this one have also one big plus - Sabnock is depicted as a soldier with the head of lion. So, why not. About his pose and also little bit of background...it's connected with the title of picture which came to my mind before first sketch. Lucifer and the Chernobyl tapestry at the United Nations HQ
The people of Belarus sent a hand-woven tapestry to the UN in gratitude for the help they received after the catastrophic nuclear accident at Chernobyl in 1986. It was designed by people’s artist Alexander Kishchenko. The left represents the region’s past; the centre highlights the nuclear disaster; the right expresses hope for the future. The tapestry is approximately 33 feet long by 13 feet high. The owl, the black suns, the sun with a face, the Lucifer-like central figure, the masonic blue and gold all make it an artwork of interest with relevance to themes on the main thread.  Mormon (LDS) temples and churches often use occult symbology in their architecture. This Sun Stone, from the original Mormon Temple, Nauvoo, Illinois, was the brainchild of Church founder, Joseph Smith, a Masonic initiate and occult conjurer.

DJ Sol Rising again
DJ Sol Rising was mentioned on the main Sol Invictus thread. As Brandon Au, he attended the Maharishi School (formerly known as the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment) in Iowa, where they practice transcendental meditation in the Hall of Bliss. The sun is rising on George Washington’s chair in the Hall of Independence. George Washington used this chair for nearly three months of the Federal Convention's continuous sessions. James Madison reported Benjamin Franklin saying, "I have often looked at that behind the president without being able to tell whether it was rising or setting.
