The Farage Five aletheia said this about Nigel Farage in 2020: “It seems that this man is not quite out of the spotlight yet and has fine leadership qualities.“ He is now more in the spotlight than ever before! There were several posts about connections between Nigel Farage and the number five a while back. By coincidence, there are now five Reform UK MPs:

There were several posts about connections between Nigel Farage and the number five a while back. By coincidence, there are now five Reform UK MPs: Today I've logged onto this forum for the first time in July and it feels like we're in a different world post July 4th. I've been having a nasty headcold ever since the beginning of the month but I'm over the worst of it now.
I was glad to see that five Reform candidates (including Farage) made it to Parliament. Initially it was being reported as four seats, drawing humourous references to the 'Four Horsemen of Reform'. However five seems a much more fitting number for reasons that have been uncovered in this place!

Chairman of Reform UK Richard Tice was elected to represent the people of Boston and Skegness.
Boston recorded the highest Leave vote (76%) during the 2016 referendum. It's fitting that this bastion of Euroscepticism would be one of the few places to elect a Reform candidate.
It does feel like that five seats could so feasibly turn into fifty with further disillusionment of Tory voters. And we can probably expect defections from Tory to Reform down the line, as Farage works his influence over the parliamentary party. I'm sure many would rather stand behind a real leader than whomever the hapless Tories put forward.

I am really sorry to hear about your summer cold – they can be debilitating. Your posts here have highlighted something that has been on my mind recently. Posts about Nigel Farage are all over the place. They are in the Purple thread, the Comedy thread and some Royal threads in addition to political threads. He is very much a person of interest. Avacyn, we have this thread and the Brexit thread, which has had a large number of views. They are both rather out of date now. Should we have a Farage/Reform UK watch thread in the Politics board? Or maybe a UK politics watch thread?

So now we know
The winning party is as predicted. Turnout was very low in my constituency, which has been Conservative throughout its history. It is now in the hands of Labour. So what happens now? Time will tell. Get that popcorn in. Same here: my Constituency has been solidly Conservative, except for one brief period about a century ago. In theory, it is a safe seat... except that Damien Green was a target. If someone else had stood, chances are, it would be Conservative still now. My Polling Station had more people, but it was still lacklustre. People saw no real point to voting, so stayed home. On a wider level, the reason why Roger Gale kept his seat, is because of his campaign to get Manston Airport back in action, and not turned into a giant housing estate. Also, the boundary changes have had a big impact on Kent.

A few afterthoughts
I thought it strange that there were almost no announcements that a fifth Reform UK MP had been elected until well after the event. I know that there was a recount, but it still seems a little odd.
I see that some apparently safe Conservative seats in Kent changed hands; nine constituencies have gone Red!
Reform UK did well in Kent, but not well enough to win any seats. I was expecting them to get one or two there.
Some people may continue with the post mortems and play around with figures using the old boundaries, but here life goes on and the action moves to the Dark UK Era thread.
