Madeleina Kay: Queen of Hearts Avacyn Madeleina Kay is an amazing find but like Lord B she may disappear into the background now that the Remain cause is lost. She took part in a very colourful demo in central London in July 2019. She was the Queen of Euro Hearts and her fellow musician Boy Alice was with her:

The procedures for WAB or Brexit Bill have started. Debates today and tomorrow, then the Third Reading on Thursday. There is nothing of interest on the official reports - it all seems to be just a formality. It pretty much is. The real question now... how will the EU respond to a fixed negotiating time? Also, the cracks are starting to really show. i reckong by the end of the year, they are completely gone.

Madeleina Kay is still around. Her Twitter is still very active. twitter.com/MadeleinaKayShe also has a GoFundMe: www.gofundme.com/f/madeleina-kay-2020It seems she is aware that Labour had terrible policies, though she seems to be Liberal Democrat. She wants Jess Phillips to win, as do i. Because she would be the utter end of the party. I also expect by the end of the year for the Labour Party to split in two. Essentially, the reason why they're all so silent, is because they have yet to work out what to say, what to argue for. Boris has a strong majority, The Speaker is Lindsey Hoyle, and they cannot just run to the courts again - there is not the time to do anything, and moreover... it would make them a bigger target for Boris to hit.

Off to the House of Lords next week
“...they cannot just run to the courts again - there is not the time to do anything... “
Maybe that is what they want us to think!
It isn’t over until it’s over; I am half expecting some last-minute bombshell.
The WAB has been approved by a large majority and will now go to the HoL.
I was in the area today and there were just a few EU flags outside Parliament. One Remainer had a placard that mentioned democracy - this is it!

UnseenI, we had a decisive victory with the election. They cannot claim that Remain is what people want, or that the country is divided... a clear message was sent. Labour is trying to figure out if they have anyone to replace them, the Liberal Democrats are torpedoed. The only one being any sort of opposition is the SNP, and they are a shambolic awkward squad. Moreover, Ursula von der Leyen is showing herself to be a much weaker leader. The EU27 are divided, and are in a panic over everything. Should we keep vigilant? Yes. Should we be fearful? No. There is no need to be at present. And remember... we leave with No Deal at the end of the month, people will cheer anyway. Because it will be over. Oh, and Airbus has decided to stay in the UK.

"... a clear message was sent."
It certainly was. Remainers were clinging to the idea that the people who voted to Leave in 2016 would not do it again after having had several years to learn and understand more about what is involved and the consequences.
Nigel Farage is holding a party in Parliament Square from 21:00 onwards on January 31st.

They were likely thinking they had educated the masses... well, they did. Just not in the way they believed. I think there will be many parties that night. I plan to see in the event with a drink or two. Happily, I have that day off, so can have drinks, and not worry about going to work the next morning. This speech from Anne Widdecombe has me smiling. And the disgruntled look at the end is classic. These people are incapable of learning, it seems...

I think lots of people will be having mini celebrations.
Managed to watch the first four minutes, it seems like something people would be interested in what is said.

Brexit Day and the start of the First World War
Foreign Secretary Sir Edward Grey said this on the eve of WWI: " The lamps are going out all over Europe, we shall not see them lit again in our life-time." On the afternoon of Tuesday 4 August 1914, the House of Commons was informed that an ultimatum had been given to Germany expiring at midnight Berlin time (11 pm in London). When the chimes of Big Ben rang out at 11 pm, Britain was at war. This sound familiar, although this time there may be no chimes from Big Ben at 11:00 pm to mark the occasion. The official reason is the cost of pausing the renovation works just for one night, but many people are against the idea of a celebration. Maybe Nigel Farage can rig up a set of mobile bells for his party in Parliament Square, something similar to these ones:

Brexit bells again
“Please note, adult and coarse language...”
I will give this one a miss: the presenter’s voice alone was too much for me after only a few seconds!
If all else fails, a recording of Big Ben’s chimes will be blasted through loud speakers!

Don’t celebrate Brexit Day
Terrible things might happen: “Liberal Democrat peer Lord Greaves claimed that any official celebrations to mark Brexit could lead to scenes reminiscent of Nazi Germany. The veteran peer said many Remainers and EU citizens were still crying themselves to sleep over Brexit. 'They are feeling a sense of loss which is akin to bereavement and a grieving process has only just begun,' he said. Lord Greaves added: 'In these circumstances, triumphalistic behaviour, festivals of Brexit and all the rest will simply make things worse.' He went on: 'I am fearful that on January 31 some things may happen in some places which could be reminiscent of things happening in Germany in the early 1930s. I am worried about this, because there is that sentiment amongst a hostile minority of the population.'” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7889547/Ding-dong-Brexit-big-bongs-bellringers-bishops-denounce-plan-peal-bells.htmlRemainers are still crying themselves to sleep? A big donation for Big Ben
Our old friend Arron Banks, formerly of UKIP and now of Leave Means Leave, has donated £50,000 toward the costs of getting Big Ben to chime on Der Tag.

Lights not bells?
BoJo will mark the occasion on B-Day: “Boris Johnson has unveiled plans for a light show in Downing Street on Brexit night. This comes as he has attempted to defuse a row over his failure to get Big Ben to sound that evening. The Prime Minister will address the nation from inside No 10 as a clock counting down to the moment Britain leaves the EU at 11pm on January 31 is projected on to the outside.” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7900859/Downing-Street-plans-dazzling-light-Leave-date-January-31.htmlSo there will be two rival events!

Revenge of King Rat
“And Boris is not forgetting the institutions that hindered and harmed his efforts. Expect days of reckoning ahead for them.” I have quoted your prophetic words before Avacyn , in connection with John Bercow. We haven’t seen anything yet! The Chinese New Year will soon be here; it is the Year of the Rat. The Sun has an article about Boris as King Rat: “It took rat-like cunning for Boris Johnson to pluck election victory out of thin air - and now he's ready to wield the axe. Prepare for a St Valentine’s Day massacre once we have left the EU on January 31. Heads will roll as Boris wields the Cabinet axe in February. Civil service mandarins can wave goodbye to jobs for life. No Supreme Court judge is safe in bed.” www.thesun.co.uk/news/10637612/boris-johnson-axe-cabinet-bbc/

What will happen next week?
The Bill is still going through the House of Lords.
The three-day committee stage is complete.
Tomorrow is the first day of the two-day report stage.
Then they debate possible amendments. This could be the start of a ping-pong session...

I go through a lot of videos, to get as much information as possible, on a wide range of topics. From Ants to Zombies. I would love the bell to ring out, but the recording shall suffice. It's the essence, the symbolism that's important. I also have plans to be drinking 25 year old single malt whiskey , to mark the celebration. And I will be ready with a bunch of music, too. Welcome in the new age in style!

He is going to clean house, big time. Expect there to be a huge effort on sorting out those vile gangs that have been allowed to fester. Priti Patel has been making some very interesting comments, and i see it meaning that they are going to be gunning for them, big time. Interesting you have a cartoon with the Civil Service. I've not wanted to comment before, because of ties i have with the institution, But from what I hear, they have no real grasp of the situation. There is the expectation that Boris is a Brexit Prime minister, that he is there to sort things out, then leave. I honestly thought that at time of it being stated, many months ago. But now? I see him being around for a good few years. And I see a massive streamlining, and restructuring of the Civil Service go on. You can't just eliminate it - it is essential for Governmental function. But change is coming, that is certain. I don't feel too sorry, as there is a lot of swamp draining needing to be done. And he has the majority now to drain with impunity...

This could be the start of a ping-pong session... Well, they can ping-pong all they like. It is to my liking. The longer it is in the Lords, the less time it will be in the hands of the European Union. Thus, less time for them to approve it - or rather, try any shenanigans against the United Kingdom. This is certainly not over, but we are leaving on the 31st January, come what may. And if they don't agree, it is WTO terms, and their budget is utterly messed up. They need the money from us to make it all work...

I much prefer the printed word for information: for me, videos are mainly for entertainment or just for the pictures.
The point is to find the best sources of information in the medium that works best for us.
We are spoiled for choice!

As you say, it is all about symbolism.

B-Day celebrations in Parliament Square
Latest update from Nigel Farage:
“We’ve had loads of requests for music, light shows, mementos and more, and we’re trying to deliver.
In fact, so many of you have indicated that you will attend that we’re looking into getting more screens! ... We are still working on making the famous bell of Big Ben toll on the moment we leave the EU, but if bureaucrats in parliament refuse to allow this, we will recreate the sound with our powerful speaker system.
The world will be watching and listening. We invite you to come and witness this historic moment, being organised by Leave Means Leave...”
Music? So long, it’s been good to know you and Rule Britannia are suitable for the occasion.

And I certainly don't go around buying 25 year old single malts like that. But this is a special occasion, and it must be marked in style. This is the beginning of a New Dawn in British history, and will be in our history books for generations. I want to fully experience this moment. Maybe you could have some Elderflower presse, or something? And some scones with Cornish clotted cream?

What to do on Brexit Day
“this is a special occasion, and it must be marked in style”
“ ...some scones with Cornish clotted cream”
I had been thinking exactly this! It should be something typically British.
I remember the CC Forum on the day after the EU Referendum in June 2016, when Hux said:
"grounds for modest celebration..."
This is what I said then:
“...which for me will be at 18:50 when I will have a cup of apple & cinnamon tea, one M & S strawberry & cream flavoured scone and watch Rupert Everett as Miss Fritton in St. Trinians!”
Then there was the day after the US election in November 2016, when Hillary didn’t win and small celebrations were mentioned again:
“Today, it will be this afternoon when I will have a cup of spiced chai tea, two hot M & S maple syrup pancakes with butter and watch Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere on DVD.“
So, for 31st I am thinking of getting very good quality takeaway fish & chips - very pricey in London but it is a special occasion - and some scones from a good artisan baker - no ‘value’ or ‘own brand’ ones in a packet! I will get Cornish clotted cream, and I will put the jam on first!
Dorset Tea is expensive, but there is a strawberry & cream flavour which is delicious and ideal for the occasion.
