As mentioned elsewhere, Coronado is known as the Emerald City because of its Wizard of Oz connections. The city flag is emerald and white:

“this an interesting trail. I am reading what you have found.” Lavendel it was your corona posts that inspired my investigation. The flag is just one of the things that makes the city of Corona a place of interest.

The official flag of the city of Los Angeles
The DM has been saying that the Sussexes are moving from Canada to Los Angeles. It could well be true, considering how much Meghan likes Hollywood and the celebrity world. The city flag is colourful. From Wiki: “The flag of Los Angeles, California, consists of a background of three notched stripes of green, gold and red. The colors represent olive trees (green), orange groves (gold) and vineyards (red)... The city seal is shown in the center of the flag. Surrounding the shield are representations of three major Californian crops: grapes, olives, and oranges. The seal contains a heraldic shield quartered showing: 1. an approximation of the shield shown on the Great Seal of the United States, though the blue chief features thirteen stars; 2. an approximation of the flag of California; 3. an approximation of the coat of arms of Mexico; 4. a tower and lion of the Kingdom of Castile and the Kingdom of León, representing the arms of Spain.”

I wish European nations would bring back their traditional emblems for their flags, instead of the crappy tricolours most have nowadays. And this is the true flag of the English, the White Dragon of the Saxons, not that dreadful Norman cross of St. George:

I didn’t know about this flag. I like it better than the one with the cross.

Far-right flags in the U. S. Capitol
It has been a while since the last post here. Today the DM has an article about the far-right groups of Trump supporters who invaded the Capitol. They have a good quotation about flags: “More than a cardboard sign, flags are dynamic. They communicate ideas quickly especially when hoisted to the heavens,' Laura Scofield, a member of the North American Vexillological Association told Quartz. She argues that flags are 'the most powerful artifact ever designed'.” Some of the colourful flags: “Flags and symbols as numbered above: 1. Altered national/state flags, 2. 2nd Amendment rights flags ,3. Gadsden Flag, 4. Betsey Ross / America First flag, 5. Pine Tree Flag, 6. Three Percenters, 7. Trump flags, 8. Come and Take it flag “ www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9129945/The-far-right-symbols-groups-Capitol-Hill-riots.html

The Republic of Kekistan!
“This flag first began to appear in 2017 and it is a symbol for those who are part of a fictional sect who worship Kek, the ancient Egyptian deity of darkness... The nation is ruled by the frog-headed deity Kek, who is often represented by Pepe the Frog. 'The Kekistan flag is controversial because its design was partially derived from a Nazi-era flag; this was apparently done on purpose as a joke,' Pitcavage explained to CNN.” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9129945/The-far-right-symbols-groups-Capitol-Hill-riots.html“The flag, pictured above on Wednesday, was originally created by some members of the 4chan online community to represent a joke country Kekistan. The nation is ruled by the frog-headed deity Kek, who is often represented by Pepe the Frog”

Flags at Otto von Habsburg's funeral
Prince Otto Von Habsburg was the eldest son of the last ever Austro-Hungarian emperor. He died in 2011 at the age of 98. He was laid to rest in a spectacular ceremony, with many banners and flags in evidence. His coffin was draped in the black and yellow Habsburg family flag and flanked by two flags of the International Paneuropean Union, of which he was president.

We honeymooned in Croatia last year. Great country, great people, cool flag with lots of symbols: An interesting variant to the Croatian chequers is based on the arrangement of the red and white squares. The Ustaše version is where the top-left square is white rather than red like the normal 'official' version.
Seen here in this example :

Gypsy flag in central London
There was a very big Freedom March in London today. Several other causes were represented too. As usual there were many flags to be seen, mostly familiar ones. One was new to me: it is the official flag of the Romani or Rom people. The blue and green represent the sky and the earth; the wheel is a reminder of the gypsy caravan used by travellers – and a tribute to the Romanies' possible origin in India:

The flag of Ireland
The Tricolour was first used in 1916, and it was soon adopted as the official flag of the Irish Republic: The colours in this flag are symbolic. The green represents the Catholics and Irish Nationalism, the orange the Protestants and the Orange Order, and the white symbolises the hoped-for peace and harmony between the two groups. A colourised picture of the flag on the coffin of IRA leader Michael Collins, who was murdered in 1922:

The Boyne Standard: flag of the Orange Order
While the British Union Flag is the official flag of Northern Ireland, the loyalists' Orange Order Flag is often seen in Orange Order parades. The star represents followers of William of Orange. The Purple Standard is an inverted version of the Boyne Standard that is often seen:

The flag of Ukraine
This topical blue and yellow flag was (re-)adopted in 1992. The colours represent the sky and the wheat fields:

Platinum Jubilee flag
I haven't seen any purple Platinum Jubilee flags in London yet. Maybe they will appear soon. Small versions of this one are also available for hand waving:

Robin Hood on the Nottinghamshire flag
I noticed an unusual flag in a picture of a Rejoin EU demonstration. It is the new flag of Nottinghamshire: it was adopted in 2011. The archer figure in the middle is copied from a statue of Robin Hood:
