A five-foot robot was used to screen people for the Coronavirus:in New York: “A robot whose creators claim it can detect the coronavirus has been banned from a New York park after disturbing locals. The bot was designed to ask people questions including 'Have you had a fever in the last three days?' Quarantine
I thought that we had already posted all relevant references, but an old episode of Red Dwarf has become very topical. Quarantine (1992) is the episode of Red Dwarf in which Rimmer contracts a holo-virus that turns people insane. He forces Lister, Kryten and the Cat to go into isolation in the quarantine bay, where they all argue and get on each others’ nerves. Rimmer with his new friend Mr Flibble: Then the tables are turned. Rimmer is in quarantine and the others ‘entertain’ him: The whole episode can be seen here:

Little Britain in Germany
A very amusing story of someone who is bringing Britain to his garden in Bonn: “A BRITISH ex-pat living in Germany has taken his patriotism to the next level by parking a full size double decker bus in his front garden - much to the anger of his neighbours.” “It is the latest move for tree surgeon Gary Blackburn, 54, who infuriated neighbours and residents in Kretzhaus, Bonn previously. The Brexit supporter, who moved to Germany three decades ago, felt inspired to give his home a uniquely British feel, following the EU referendum. The dad-of-six has also installed a Mr Bean Mini, a telephone box and a life-sized model of the Queen besides other items have brought his bill close to £200,000... He said: 'The Germans absolutely love England and like my sense of humour, apart from my close neighbours who have tried to report me because of my tank’...” www.express.co.uk/news/uk/955897/British-expat-germany-london-bus-front-garden-little-britainHis tank is a very large one. Is that a guardsman on the right?

A clever advertisement on the side of a London bus
This is a dig at one of the Vote Leave’s campaign statements that they put on the side of their Big Red Brexit Battle Bus: it claimed that the £350 million sent to the EU each week could be used to fund the NHS. For non-UK readers, a ‘whopper’ is a big lie!

London bus does push-ups in Islington
Czech sculptor David Černý created the London Booster for the 2012 Olympics. This was a big red bus with mechanical arms that did push-ups! I saw it myself; it was outside the Business Design Centre in Islington. It made grunting and groaning noises as it heaved itself up on its arms. It was an amazing sight. There are many images and some videos available of the London Booster:

Surveys, statistics and Reginald Perrin
This post was inspired by what I found when looking at information about the Sarah Ferguson brand strategy. Some presentation slides for the launch of her new company Hartmoor had some statistics obtained by asking people various questions about her. For example, they say that 62% of the people surveyed described their opinion of her as ‘favourable’ while 10% said it was ‘unfavourable’. 53% liked her ‘refreshing attitude and keen wit’. I find it difficult to take this sort of thing seriously. It reminds me of a scene from the old 1970s TV programme The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin in which such marketing statistics are ridiculed. A new Exotic Ices project is being considered, but first they must do some market research to see if there is any demand for such products as Fig Surprise, Mango Delight and Strawberry & Lychee Ripple: “Esther Pigeon gave them the results of her survey. 73% of housewives in East Lancashire and 81% in Hertfordshire had expressed interest in the concept of exotic ice creams. Only 8% in Hertfordshire and 14% in East Lancashire had expressed positive hostility, while 5% had expressed latent hostility. In Hertfordshire 96.3% of the 20% who formed 50% of consumer spending potential were in favour. Among the unemployed only 0.1% were in favour. 0.6% had told her where they could put the exotic ice creams. ‘What does all this mean in laymen’s terms?’ said Reggie. ‘This would be regarded as a reasonably satisfactory basis for introducing the product in the canvassed areas,’ said Esther Pigeon.” An ice-cream tasting session at Sunshine Deserts:

In a German café
Can this be real? Customers in a café in Germany wear weird hats to enforce social distance: “A German cafe made their customers wear swimming pool noodles as hats to make sure they obeyed social distancing measures as the country begins to ease lockdown. Customers sitting outside Cafe & Konditorei Rothe in Schwerin, Germany, all had to wear straw hats with two swimming pool noodles taped to the top. The cafe staff introduced the inventive rule make sure their customers were not flouting social distancing rules.” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8319841/German-cafe-makes-customers-wear-swimming-noodle-hats-enforce-social-distancing.html

They should have made it look like RoboCop. Because a machine that looks like RoboCop, demanding to know if you have had a fever would have been hysterically funny. Mind you, it would be best to do in Detroit. Talk about silliness... how did they expect it to end, exactly? I shake my head at it all.

Avacyn’s doozy
An article by journalist Murray Scougall in the May 3rd 2015 edition of the Sunday Post (Dundee) mentions our founder - in the context of the old CC forum. The article mentions various conspiracy theories about the Cambridges’ children, the use of a surrogate for example. Here is the relevant extract: “However, the real gold on this topic can be found at online community, the Conservative Conspiracy Forum. On April 9th, a poster going by the name of ‘dobbins’ speculated that the baby would be revealed to the public on St. George’s Day (April 23rd) having already been born on a previous date. Visions of a bairn being wheeled out in a sort or Blue Peter, here’s one we made earlier, fashion were interrupted by this doozy of a response from ‘Avacyn’ , who said: ‘This would be a convenient date because it would add up to nine, which is a big number for those occult-obsessed lunatics.’ (Pot and kettle, Avacyn.)” So our Avacyn is an occult-obsessed loony! Who knew? Still, any publicity is good. I couldn’t find the original article, but a snapshot was saved here: www.pressreader.com/uk/the-sunday-post-dundee/20150503/282492887254041

German corona confectionery
These look delicious, and I love the blue-green colour: Master confectioner Torsten Roth created his so-called Corona Antibody Pralines at the Roth Bakery in Erfurt, Germany. The idea came to him during a regional trade fair when visitors failed to appear at his stall because of the coronavirus crisis. His answer was humor.

Coronaburgers!
The confectioner above is not the only one to take advantage of the coronavirus: “René Saucedo had to quickly adjust to the tough times that were ahead as business at his restaurant in Mexico started to slow down due to the coronavirus pandemic... ‘What happened was that I was thinking and here where I live you start to get exposure from many people who are making cakes in the form of the coronavirus or with the theme of the coronavirus,' Saucedo said. 'And what occurred to me was, why not make a bread like this with the COVID theme? ‘” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8366323/Mexico-restaurant-owner-stays-afloat-introducing-coronaburger.htmlThey look like aliens from a Doctor Who film to me! I am most distressed, I expect gold star roasts from journalists. I guess this is the only response to such poor efforts:

Tsar I vaguely remember some DIF-related discussions and feuds some years back. Many people didn’t like Seanx or Bikerdruid! I think that many former DIF mods signed up to new and old forums under new names, which confused me a lot. I have a few cryptic old posts - Here is one from around October 2016 - maybe you can make some sense of Seanx’s badly-written outburst because I certainly can’t! “Sanctum Zone is back and Seanx is posting anti-Icke stuff there From Sel in Oct. 2014: ‘And isn't it oh so funny how Seanx went inactive as soon as people began publicly exposing him as David Icke's alter-ego on Truth Zone and Sanctum Zone?‘ I never got into the Seanx and other mod discussions, and never felt inclined to join either TZ or SZ. I just wondered whether everyone knew that Sanctum Zone is back as SZ2 and he is posting there. For anyone who wants to read his rants e.g. ‘Well, first of all I'm not I-am pretending to be Seanx. I am Seanx. As for the rest of your rant, I have no idea what you are complaining about. I complimented Novum on Tz because at least he upholds his principle of giving people free speech without banning them if they upset him. unlike the DI forum who have again banned me - this time officially! I want back on the DI forum simply to expose the racist gang who are now running it! That's why they ( Zibha and the girlfriend getagrip )have now officially banned me for life!! and then deleted all my posts the minute they appeared and then changed and edited them before they were 'acceptable' to appear in the rant room. I asked again and again why you and Bikerdruid were banned and why all the mad racists now had free reign on the forum. I got no answers so I kept bringing it up- and to shut me up, they banned me.‘“ sanctumzone2.freeforums.net/thread/16/view-dave-icke-pathetic-forum

Robots at the Royal Palace
“A restaurant in the Netherlands is turning to robots to help serve customers while still complying with social-distancing guidelines. According to the Associated Press, restaurant-owner Shaosong Hu is deploying the robotic waiters at his restaurant in the Dutch beachside town of Renesse to pick up dishes, serve food, and greet customers with 'hello and welcome' once the restaurant reopens this week. 'We will use them to make sure the 1.5 meters (5 feet) we need during the corona crisis sticks,' Leah Hu, Shaosong's daughter said.” www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-8368517/Hello-welcome-robot-waiters-rescue-amid-virus.htmlNo need to give these ones a tip:

I have a few cryptic old posts - Here is one from around October 2016 - maybe you can make some sense of Seanx’s badly-written outburst because I certainly can’t! Well, well, well!!! Looks like we have another SICK racist here!! Posting all these VILE lies about me... How sad. Bullying me on your sad little forum because I am exposing the sick racists who run the internet!!! You prat. You snow people are truly sick. Get a life eh, Ms. Unseen!!! ^ That's a standard Seanx post. It's very easy to parody because once you've seen one, you've seen them all. Calling people racist while using racial slurs against Europeans was a favourite of mine. Seanx's posting style was identical to abusive emails Icke sent to Henry Makow and another bloke whose name I can't remember. Also, the mods would instantly arrive in any thread Seanx was in to defend him whilst he poisoned the thread and gave them an excuse to dump it in the Rant Room, and punish everyone arguing with him. Their insistence that Seanx was just a normal poster was laughable; even if he wasn't Icke, he was observably exempt from the forum's rules. Him being "banned" from the DIF was all for show because loads of people started pointing these things out. As for Bikerdruid, his role was to disrupt discussions by playing dumb and accusing people of various -phobias and -isms. Not a particularly serious person; a neoliberal larping as a Stalinist (LOL!), upholding everything the ruling class believes, vigorously defending globocorp values, whilst somehow thinking he was some edgy rebel. The DIF was a safety valve to attract the conspiracy minded whilst suppressing real dissent and blackpilling people to the point of hopelessness. It was a safe haven for outlandish theories about all sorts of things, including literal space reptiles ruling Earth from an underground base in the Moon, but reality-based analysis or critique of the Western system and its narratives was always derailed. As a result, virtually all the interesting people were run off the forum.

DIF: a blast from the past
Maybe the Comedy thread is after all the best place for some of the DIF posts.
I found a rant from some years back: he who wrote it will recognise his words. I omitted some references to the man with the moustache as we don’t want to be closed down!
“Seanx, as anyone who is familiar with him will know, is a foul, irrational, emotional little goblin who flies off the handle at the merest hint of a contrary opinion. He followed a friend and I into a thread on the main forums. My friend and I had made not even the slightest indication of racial hatred, but that didn't stop Sean accusing us of racism at every opportunity, and calling us "hate-filled sick Nazis" - when the only one spewing poisonous, venomous, pure hatred was him. He even made racial slurs against me for being white, which is surely in breach of the forum's rules regarding racist material. He had a temper tantrum over me quoting his ethnic slurs in my signature, because he didn't like his hypocrisy being shown up, and he got the mods to forcibly remove it from my signature and gave me points, and a 5 day suspension, over it.
When I got back from my suspension, I continued my prior "debates" with him and it culminated in him starting a stupid thread about "Nazi Trolls" which nearly all of the mods gushed over with sycophantic comments including very revealing comments saying "I can't wait to see who replies to this Sean" - moderators trolling their own forum, in order to purge people with dissenting views. I was banned because I lost my temper with Sean in that thread, although nothing I ever said to him at any point was as despicable as the bile he was coming out with non-stop.”
Why don’t you tell us what you really think of ‘Seanx’?
