Yet another non starter?
Fergie announced in January 2016 that she was going to write a book about how to make a good cup of tea: “Sarah Ferguson plans to tell readers about the secrets of the perfect brew in a 128-page tome which will be released next year. But its publishers are promising it will not be all serious, saying that it will reflect her trademark ‘whimsy’ and have a flavour of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party from Lewis Carroll’s classic novel Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland. Over 12 chapters, readers will learn how to ‘set the perfect table, throw a tea party, brew and serve the perfect cup of tea’. Other questions which will apparently be answered include whether or not the milk should go in before or after the teabag is taken out… Tea And Gratitude With The Duchess will feature Sarah’s signature sense of humour, according to the catalogue listing by American publishers Abrams.” www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/food/article-3413947/Q-make-cuppa-Fergie-Buy-128-page-book-ll-tell-you.htmlI can’t find any evidence that this book was ever published. It is mentioned on Amazon, but this could just be an advance advertisement. It is ‘unavailable’.

Fergie’s tea obsession
She writes books featuring tea and on several occasions has tried to sell tea and associated products. Is there anything more to it than a desire to make money from something that almost everyone likes? Her book Tea For Ruby and a mat where she promotes her Wedgewood tea set:

Another Saudi prince and more tea!
What could be behind this visit to Saudi Arabia last November? Fergie gave a speech - and even managed to get a reference to tea into it: “The Duchess of York travelled to Saudi Arabia as a guest of the Crown Prince accused of ordering the savage torture and murder of a campaigning journalist – and promptly lavished praise on the nation's 'good leadership'. The Mail on Sunday can reveal that Sarah Ferguson accepted an invitation from Prince Mohammad bin Salman to appear at a conference in the Saudi capital Riyadh earlier this month. Both the United Nations and the CIA have named the Crown Prince – known by his initials MbS – as the prime suspect for sanctioning a 15-strong assassination squad to kill Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in October 2018… he Duchess's spokesman insisted the 60-year-old had not been paid to attend the event, which is chaired by the Crown Prince. But after a rambling interview, she took the opportunity to promote her brands of room infusers, flavoured teas and jewellery. The Duchess's spokesman said that any profits from the event would be given to a children's trust that she founded with the charity Humanitas.” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7718721/Sarah-Duchess-York-cosies-Saudi-Crown-Prince.html

The weight-loss tea con
Yet another skeleton from Fergie’s closet and yet another very dodgy business associate: "I go from one catastrophe to another," declared Peter Foster, the serial conman behind Britain's "Cheriegate" scandal, after being released from prison in Vanuatu in 2007. With his customary disingenuous charm, the Australian added: "I don't know how I do it. I'm going to have to learn eventually, I suppose." A decade on, there is no sign that Foster - who once dated the Page Three model Samantha Fox - has altered his ways, despite serving further jail terms for more of the scams for which he has long been infamous… Over the years, many of his scams have involved bogus weight-loss products, including the notorious Bai Lin tea, which he persuaded Ms Fox and the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, to promote during the 1980s. The tea and other products - including so-called "slimming granules", Ageless Ageing jelly, the TRIMit diet pill and a thigh reduction cream - saw him fined and jailed in Britain, the US and Australia during the late '80s and '90s.” www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-39300581Some of what he said could apply to Fergie - she too has been involved with one disaster after another and never seems to learn from experience! Peter Foster convinced Fergie that Bai Lin was an ‘ancient Chinese diet secret’ when it turned out to be ordinary black tea. This was the 1980s so maybe she has learned more about tea since then. He is now talking about writing a book.

More of the same from 2010
Fergie was planning many new enterprises, and as usual they didn’t come to anything: “Anyway, as ever, she is letting it be known she has some exciting new projects. She wants to write romance novels and adventure stories. She wants to make a film about Prince Albert - a kind of sequel to The Young Victoria which she co-produced - and she wants to make a show about Victoria and Albert's nine children. 'Great for a cable series,' she says. She's also been touting herself for a new reality TV programme showing 'me on the streets' in America. Actually, her idea is to tour Middle America and help sort out the lives of ordinary citizens - 'a cross between Jim'll Fix It and Changing Rooms,' says a friend. The pitch of her self-promotion has taken on a desperate edge… Alas, the U.S seems to be growing rather weary of Brand Fergie. She is no longer the £2 million-a-year international ambassador for WeightWatchers (Fergie's handlers insist it was her decision to give it up) and her TV appearances have all but dried up.“ www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cardsloans/article-1693905/Fergie-on-the-brink-of-financial-meltdown.htmlFilms, TV programmes, candles, tea... She was going to sort out people’s lives! Fergie Will Fix It? What a joke. Fergie and her business adviser:

Sidelining Prince Andrew
Prince Andrew's personal website was taken down a while back. He won't be taking part in the Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Cenotaph this year and the royal gift shop at Balmoral Castle has just stopped selling postcards of him. I wonder whether there are even worse revelations to come. He could even lose his title too. I also wonder what he does all day now and where his funding comes from. I imagine that his business 'friends' will not want to be associated with him now and no one will pay large sums to be pictured with him.

I saw an advert for a programme about her and Prince Andrew earlier, but as I was only half paying attention, I can't remember what it's called, when it's on, what channel it's on, or what in particular it's about. But something to look out for, if anyone's interested.

But something to look out for, if anyone's interested. Another poster at last! There are several programmes of various kinds about various royals that are only available on Netflix and similar; I haven't seen them as all I have is Freeview. The Yorks are probably both in financial trouble – yet again. Maybe the Sword of Damocles is hanging over them in the form of what might come out in Ghislaine Maxwell's trial. These days, they look very different from the happy young couple of yesteryear:

Yet another dodgy deal?
Sarah Ferguson's YouTube story readings continue – there are not many comments these days in response to her daily notifications on Twitter. She also makes some occasional special announcements on Twitter. She has just been appointed as a global ambassador for The Kindness Research Foundation. This is a not-for-profit company. It has some previous names: Kissbank Foundation Ltd. from 8 October 2014 to 8 September 2016 Humankind Foundation Ltd. from 8 September 2016 to 17 May 2017 Humankindness Foundation Ltd. from 17 May 2017 to 30 April 2018 A recent picture of the new ambassador:

More tea anyone?
Here we go again with yet another range: “The author, filmmaker, former Weight Watchers ambassador and now gift designer has launched a range of products to support charities in her new Sarah's Trust. Her 'Brew For The Crew' — 80 English teabags and four packets of salted caramel and chocolate chip biscuits branded 'Duchess' — costs an eye-popping £35, or £20 for just the teabags.“ www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-8980151/Sarah-Ferguson-sells-costly-cuppa-chari-tea.htmlHow many times has she done this? If it didn't work before, why does she think it will work now? Some commenters are sceptical: “Another charity idea dreamed up by a member of the Royal family to line their own pockets. Who in their right mind would support this? How much is she creaming off the top for administration and costs. I wouldn't trust her as far as i could throw her and she looks pretty hefty to me.“ “There's something seriously wrong with SF, she's not right in the head.”

Her Heart for a Compass
This is the title of a new romantic historical novel that Sarah Ferguson has co-written with the historical novelist, Marguerite Kaye (MK!). It will be published on August 3rd. I doubt whether it will be any good. A good comment was made in response to her announcement on Twitter: “Will you please use that compass to find the nearest police station to take Prince Andrew to”

Prince Andrew “will be back in business next year”!
If what the DM tells us is true, Prince Andrew must be delusional: “The Duke of York has apparently told aides that the scandal surrounding the bombshell lawsuit filed in a US court by Virginia Giuffre will 'blow over' and has earmarked a return to the royal front line in time for Her Majesty's historic anniversary next year. Sources described Andrew's 'incredibly bullish' attitude and said he believes there is time to salvage his reputation. Palace sources have insisted the duke will 'not take part' in any of the official celebrations marking the Queen's seven decades on the throne.” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9971631/Prince-Andrew-convinced-brush-rape-sex-assault-allegations-insiders-claim.htmlTwo possibilities for next year:

Prince Andrew has burned his boats
I wonder whether the out-of-court settlement really was the best option. It is all very complicated, but anyone who still thinks that Prince Andrew will be back in business is delusional. The naughty boy and his indulgent mother, who may have paid the settlement money herself:

Storytime is back!
I assumed that Storytime with Fergie and Friends was gone for good but Sarah Ferguson has resumed her reading of children's stories on YouTube, apparently because of Ukraine. I wonder how long she will keep it up. Some small children might enjoy her performances, but I find them too embarrassing to watch and so will many other people. Comments are turned off: maybe this is because of Prince Andrew. She is pulling out all the stops here:

Perhaps this is because of the Queen's death. Reminders of what we – or the people who can bring themselves to watch - are missing, including a birthday cake hat:

Going Down Under to Tell All
Sarah Ferguson will be going to Australia next year for a tell-all speaking tour: “The event, titled In Conversation with Sarah, is set to see the exiled royal reveal more about her marriage to ex-husband Prince Andrew and the 'dark times' that followed. Ticket prices range from $99 to $188 across theatres in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and will seat up to 2000 guests...event promoters are 'confident' that the sit down with Ferguson will sell out.” www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-11342531/Sarah-Ferguson-heading-Australia-tell-speaking-tour-year.htmlYet another moneymaking 'good idea'. Maybe her tea and biscuit ranges are not selling well, not to mention the romance books. It will be interesting to see how many people buy tickets and what she reveals. A recent picture:

Update on Fergie's failed ventures
Fergie's disastrous business affairs have been the subject of many posts. In August 2020 I listed some dormant and dissolved companies that she is associated with: “Gate Ventures is in administration. Ginger & Moss was created to sell teas in 2015. They don’t appear to be doing much at the moment. Fergie handed over significant control in favour of Solamoon and Gate Ventures in March 2019.” Now the wolves are gathering: “The Duchess of York is facing a £19 million lawsuit over her failed media investment company, Gate Ventures. Sarah Ferguson and Ofcom chairman Lord Grade are among the firm's directors set to face the wrath of liquidators determined to recoup the sum. Gate Ventures, which invested in West End productions of Sunset Boulevard and 42nd Street, made more than £500,000 of 'unexplained' loans to the duchess, the Sunday Times reported yesterday, including £232,000 to her tea and dinnerware company, Ginger & Moss.” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12134503/Duchess-York-faces-19m-lawsuit-failed-media-investment-firm.htmlNo wonder she is looking worried:

Here we go again: Spilling the Tea
Sarah Ferguson has had yet another 'good idea' connected with tea: “Sarah Ferguson has revealed she's following in Meghan Markle's footsteps as she announced she is launching a podcast. The Duchess of York, 63, shared an Instagram post this morning confirming the first episode of 'Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah' would be released this week. She explained it is a 'new weekly podcast about the highs and lows of everyday life' and would see her 'taking on some of the biggest and strangest stories from around the world.'” www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-12084319/Sarah-Ferguson-reveals-shes-launching-podcast-spill-tea.htmlThe article suggests that she is offended not to have been invited to the coronation ceremony. Maybe she will leak some royal secrets in revenge. I wonder how long this enterprise will last. A very idealised publicity picture and a more realistic view:
