The Yorks in 1987
The Yorks were pictured in fancy dress in happier days before their divorce. The fun-loving couple took part in Prince Edward’s disastrous special royal edition of It’s a Knockout:

Prince Andrew and the green mantle
Prince Andrew was leader of the Green Team in the royal edition of It’s a Knockout. He wore a green cloak at the opening but later took it off. At the start of the competition: With Prince Edward after removing the green mantle:

Prince Andrew in green again
This is when he was serving in the Falklands Islands in 1982. At the time, and on a commemoration stamp from 1986:

Red roses for the returned hero
Prince Andrew got a big welcome when he returned from the Falklands. This may have been his finest hour. The roses really should have been white for the House of York!

Glamorous images
Sarah Ferguson gave an interview to Harpers Bazaar in 2011. They made her and her surroundings look very glamorous. She looks very different from the haggard Sarah we have been seeing in the un-shopped images. These pictures are unrealistic in many ways; they give a completely false impression. I like the cakes and bananas:

Sarah Ferguson and the combustible cake
Sarah Ferguson was presented with a birthday cake by The Sun when visiting the Dummer Indoor Cricket Club in October 1999. The cake caught fire! She doesn’t seem too bothered - perhaps she was more concerned about reaching the age of forty:

More cake for Sarah Ferguson
Unlike Camilla, who obviously enjoys inspecting cakes, Sarah Ferguson seems more interested in promoting cakes for Lambertz than eating them. This one was presented to her in 1993 on the occasion of her charity-related climb of a peak close to Mount Everest. She is just holding it for the camera: Climbing to the peak of the Yorks' wedding cake:

Another disaster for Fergie?
She is now reading stories daily on YouTube: “The Duchess of York has launched a new daily YouTube show where she will read a series of different children's books to help keep the little ones entertained during lockdown. # In the first episode of 'Storytime with Fergie and Friends,' which she posted to her new YouTube channel, Sarah Ferguson, 60, put on a very animated performance as she read kid's classic Hairy Maclary by Lynley Dodd. During the clip, the mother of Princess Beatrice and Eugenie told fans she will be joined by others in following episodes, which will be released daily at 4pm.” www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-8222491/Sarah-Ferguson-Storytime-Fergie-Friends-YouTube-show.htmlThe clips are awful and she looks awful too. Something is surely very wrong. If you want to listen to some rambling, embarrassing drivel, her channel is here: www.youtube.com/channel/UCfVf4WCcovih_4_3JRqklNgMaybe she will be promoting her own books and products! I see her dolls and a scented candle... In the first reading she shows off an Alice in Wonderland teapot. You can see the Mad Hatter and the Ace of Clubs in the bottom of this picture:

More entertainment
What is Fergie trying to achieve with all the recent publicity stunts? Is she desperate for attention? Some very recent pictures of her doing the housework seem staged. Whose ‘good idea’ was this? Why is there no dishwasher? Why isn’t she wearing rubber gloves? Shouldn’t the dishcloth be thrown over her shoulder? Has she selected the tools that she thinks the servants use these days? If so, she has got it very wrong. Duchess does dishes in Windsor: Fergie fakes cleaning the floor:

How to do the cleaning?
Sarah Ferguson might get more attention if she mops the floor dressed in the same way as Meghan did when she played a maid in 2006:

If she really can clean, the Duchess of York could start a new business: She could have her gingham-wearing doll Little Red as a mascot like this one:

Storytime with Fergie and Friends is not doing so well
Sarah Ferguson treated us to her first story on Wednesday 15th; since then there have been two more days of short story reading. The viewing figures have gone from 13k for the first story to 1.5k for the second to 399 for the third!
She reads longer stories on Saturdays. I took one for the team and had a look.
She is wearing more makeup this time, but it doesn’t do much for her. She is reading one of her Little Red books. It is beyond embarrassing.
As of very recently, the number of views for the latest story is 152.
Did she think that she would attract hundreds of thousands of viewers and they would all buy her books?

Sarah Ferguson and Little Red
Little Red is a ginger-haired doll; she is said to be loosely based on Sarah herself; she is the subject of some of Sarah Ferguson’s children’s books. There were plans to make an animated series for TV based on the books, but like so many of these projects nothing came of it. Today’s reading will probably not do much to popularise the books either. It speaks for itself that she had to go to a New Zealand publisher for the new books she is writing.

So far, only 162 people have viewed the reading of today’s story, which is another one about Little Red.
Big Red must be very upset now. I wonder how much longer this will go on for.

Money money money
The DM had a good article about Sarah Ferguson in 2009. In summary: never learns from experience; always short of money; turns good opportunities into disasters. “The poor old Duchess of York has been forced to cancel her grand 50th birthday party, due to be held at Royal Lodge in Windsor tonight. Why? Apparently, she's running out of money. Again... What we have learned about her is that she has learned nothing... The nation has always been able to depend on vainglorious Sarah to express her unique gift for turning any advantage into a disaster. Her 50th birthday party has been no exception. In typical flamboyant fashion, the Duchess had hoped to celebrate her milestone with an extravagant bash... she was to be the centre of attention at a glittering party for 300 close friends and family members... Everything she does goes wrong.” www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1220496/At-50-Duchess-York-woman-learns.htmlThat was more than ten years ago. She has learned nothing since then; she continues to play the same old Groundhog Day games. With her soulmate?

The arrival of Princess Beatrice
The ridicule and criticism of the Yorks go way back. Fergie’s looks and Andrew’s brains were fair game right from the start. In 1988 the satirical magazine Private Eye couldn’t resist this dig:

Princess Beatrice and all the eights
I have just noticed that Princess Beatrice was born on August 8th at 8:18 pm 1988. August of course is the 8th month. There are more eights in this article from 2009: “Palace officials spent £250,000 renovating an apartment in St James Palace for Princess Beatrice to stay in while she is at university, it has been reported... At the time, the decision not to house her in the college's £88-a-week student digs or rent private accommodation was explained by the increased cost of security it would entail.” www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/theroyalfamily/5694425/Palace-officials-spent-250000-renovating-Princess-Beatrice-apartment.htmlAre there eights in the hat she wore to the Cambridges’ wedding in 2011?

Not many views so far today
The DM has kindly produced a promotional article for the daily story readings, but the number of views gets fewer every day. The presentation doesn’t help much: “Before blowing a kiss to the camera to end the video, Sarah said: ‘Thank you so much for listening and go and do 50 star jumps and hop like a rabbit five times!’“ www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-8241673/Sarah-Ferguson-reads-Little-Miss-Lucky.html

Today’s effort
Someone should make it stop. Today’s attractions are twigs in her hair and a little doggie. Only 67 people have watched it so far, and one of them was me! Did she do some time travelling in the 1980s? Is this her reaction to seeing her future self reading the stories?

Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of Dignity
Yet another blast from the past! Some recent projects involve recycled ideas, selling candles as ‘Duchess Inc.’ for example. An Evening Standard article from 2006 describes the first scented candle project: “Dignity. Honesty. Loyalty. Tranquillity. Royalty. Hardly qualities that one associates with the Duchess of York. Yet Fergie has decided this is the perfect time to package them up and sell them to the Americans through Fifth Avenue stores at a suitably high price. ...Fergie has teamed up with upper-crust 'alchemist' Harry Slatkin to translate these ideals into something a little more familiar - a bunch of scented candles. They smell of tea. Flavoured tea, no less - with each one named after those high-minded virtues of dignity et al... In fairness to Fergie, the profits from this new line of merchandise are said to be going to her charitable foundation.” www.standard.co.uk/news/fergie-the-duchess-of-dollars-7180047.htmlSaid to be going to her charity...how often have we heard that? Sarah with Harry Slatkin, yet another new best friend, and a tea-scented candle:

The symbolism of ‘Sincerely Sarah’
Amazon was selling a very appropriate Avon product associated with our Duchess: “This unique candle holder features two opposing mirrors spaced to hold three unscented tea lights (included). When the candles are lit, the mirrors endlessly reflect the flames. The front pane hosts an inspiring sentiment from the Duchess. Glass, metal and wax. 8"L x 3-1/2"W x 5"H. Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York Working mother and international personality Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, unveils her own personal luxuries line exclusively for Avon. Now every woman can evoke the glamour and splendor of Sarah's private world and indulge in a bit of personal luxury every day. Avon candle wicks are lead-free. Never leave a burning candle unattended.” She does appear to be lost in a world of mirrors, and she has been left unattended to cause a disaster! Her private world is more chaos and confusion, more Alice in Wonderland, than glamour and splendour. “Peer into the light and reflect on your infinite possibilities”:

Another item from the ‘Sincerely Sarah’ Avon range
It looks cheap and trashy to me, and ‘Integrity’ is not something that is associated with the Yorks. I would like to know how many of these were sold: “Sincerely Sarah Rock and Candle Garden by Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York- Avon”

£5 million unpaid bill!
The latest story in the DM explains a lot if true: “Prince Andrew was mired in more legal woes last night as he and the Duchess of York face being sued for millions over claims they have missed payments on their luxury chalet. The couple bought shares in the property in the Swiss ski resort of Verbier in 2014 for about £13 million. But it is alleged they missed a deadline on December 31 by which another chunk of that sum was supposed to be paid. In the deeds of sale, seen by the French-language newspaper Le Temps, about £5 million had been due. That figure is now £6.7 million with interest.” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8298209/Prince-Andrew-Sarah-Ferguson-sued-5m-unpaid-bill.htmlThe wolves are gathering around Prince Andrew. I wonder whether anyone would be interested in buying the Yorks’ share of this chalet now:

Sarah Ferguson has just joined LinkedIn
Could this be anything to do with the unpaid £5 million bill? Is she desperately trying to get some money - yet again? She is listed as a 'Spokesperson, Author, Producer and Humanitarian' under her current job title. The rest of the profile highlights her charity work, media appearances and published books, including two autobiographies and children's stories. The DM has all the details. Her new profile picture and one where she is skiing in 2015 speak for themselves about the difference between image and reality: www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-8290459/Sarah-Ferguson-reveals-joined-LinkedIn-shows-glam-profile-picture.html

Fergie and Friends
The daily story reading is still taking place, but the number of views is not high. Was this intended to be a money-making exercise in some way?
She often seems rambling and incoherent to me, and I find the opening song rather annoying. She read a story called Duck and Goose on Thursday. Is it just coincidence that Meghan’s recent video featured a story about a duck and rabbit? This story has had 703 views to date.
Yesterday’s effort was a poem for VE Day. It has had 433 views so far. She is obscured by red, white and blue decorations:

More about Swisschaletgate
The DM has revealed that the person taking legal action to recover the money owed is a former female friend, or possibly acquaintance. It is all rather complicated, but the Yorks bought their share of the chalet in 2014, taking out a mortgage for part of the amount with an arrangement that the remaining amount would be paid in cash - half each. They didn’t pay the cash in 2014 (what a surprise); they obtained an agreement to defer the £5 million still owing for five years to December 2019 - by chance the month after Prince Andrew’s video that destroyed his financial prospects. Then they agreed to sell, but left it until after the coronavirus changed everything. Now they are really in trouble, and Fergie is unlikely to raise the money by hiring herself out: “In an apparent bid to drum up gainful employment, the Duchess this week opened an account on the networking website Linked In, describing herself as 'a global humanitarian, businesswoman, best-selling children's book author, producer and wellness advocate'. The page also offered her services as a 'spokesperson' and 'producer'. But as recent events suggest, it's probably a bad idea for anyone thinking of hiring her to let her — or for that matter her husband — anywhere near a balance sheet.” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8301991/The-Mail-reveals-female-former-friend-suing-Duke-Duchess-York-6-7m-unpaid-debt.html

“Oh dear, we are in trouble”
The Prince Andrew Charitable Trust (PACT) and its profit-making subsidiaries will be wound up later this year after concerns were raised by the Charity Commission about the payments to (former) trustee Amanda Thirsk. A new charity will be established to take on some of the projects - at least that is the plan. It may well come to nothing. What with this, the Epstein case and the Swiss chalet case, the Harry Potter character Argus Filch’s comment is very appropriate:
