On 7th October 2023, Hamas launched thousands of Rockets into Israel, starting an offensive against them. Israel has responded by declaring war.
This is a big shift on the global stage, and this is in addition to the conflict in Ukraine.
I thought I would start this thread, so we can track events, and discuss what is happening. Things are certainly picking up pace, and hopefully we can survive it all well.
Faith manages.

I really hope not, but I am afraid of what will happen now.
We need to be careful about what we say.

Donald Trump has his say
Donald Trump has been saying for years that WWIII is on the horizon and he is the only one who can prevent it. After the recent developments, he says that we are closer than ever before.

I really hope not, but I am afraid of what will happen now. We need to be careful about what we say. Weirdly, I am not extremely worried. I see this as a necessary positive: the global population is waking up to reality, and we need that. If the global population says to its leaders "No, we don't want to fight, we want peace," then we have no way war can happen. This is the outcome we need. We need to keep an eye on fertiliser, because that supply can be deeply disrupted by all of this happening with Israel. This means problems with growing food, and from there a rise in food prices. So this is a risk we need to monitor. Also, energy is an Important consideration right now. Iran and Venezuela upped production to counter the reduction in oil output in Saudi Arabia. Iran is likely to be a notable player in this, so might cut back production, or face sanctions. So costs might go up there as well.

The next few days will be crucial. I will review my supplies again. The Emergency Preparation thread will be very useful.

Here is some good analysis on the affair, with a slant towards economics. The situation is now escalating, as it looks like an oil and gas embargo coming. Which means more financial pain to come.
This is a nasty situation. I want it clear I want the killing to stop, but I fear what events are now taking a life of their own.

Momentum
Events do indeed take on a life of their own. Things seem to be getting worse and worse. There was a big March for Palestine demonstration on Saturday. The number of people who took part is estimated at 150,000. It was scheduled to finish at 15:00, but protesters and police were still there some hours later. The hovering police helicopters were very noisy. Another march is due to take place on Saturday. I wonder how many people will come this time.

One problem is that a lot of Hamas Rockets are homemade, using things like cut up water pipes. So they can easily injure Palestinians in the process of attacking Israel.
What is significant is that Palestine is two areas, and we never hear of problems with the West Bank. It is always Gaza, which could be deeply important in understanding what is going on.
Right now gold and silver prices are on the rise, because people are rushing to safe havens. We could have this conflict be a trigger for economic catastrophe. As it is, things are getting very shaky.

Today's March for Palestine in central London
Things were a little quieter than they were last Saturday, with fewer marchers. Perhaps the rain kept some of them away, or perhaps they are cooling off a little. Making their presence felt at Piccadilly Circus:

I agree. It all seems very insecure and could fall apart any time now.

YouTube is now trying to censor "Rome" in superchats and comments, because so many people are now making comparisons to the end of the Roman Empire. (Or more specifically, the Western Roman Empire. The Eastern part kept going long afterwards, though in an increasingly diminished state.) The decline is getting more and more obvious to people, which is good. We might end up with the masses wanting change, and fight to turn things around.

I can well imagine that some censorship is taking place.
The decline and fall of the Western Roman Empire is attributed partly to an invasion by Germanic tribes or barbarians and the rise of Christianity. A severe financial crisis has also been mentioned.
There may be some modern parallels with the UK and parts of Europe here.

Saturday 25th: another big ceasefire march in London
Last Saturday was the occasion for many small local protests. Now the big march is back. They will be coming down Piccadilly on the way to Parliament. I wonder how many will turn out this time. Many different organisations are taking part:

The Houthis have apparently attacked a Russian ship now. There are clear attempts to escalate things. I reckon we will be getting to November, and it will be like the Cuban Missile Crisis on steroids. Talk of nuclear war, and the like. It won't happen, because the masses will not stand for it. They will scream for peace, so things will dial back down. All of the attacks in the Red Sea has doubled container costs. So prices of consumer goods will go up as a result. Interesting times, indeed.

Putin, Nato and the Doomsday Clock
I have seen some alarming predictions in the media. Scaremongering and clickbait articles are to be expected, but some of it is worrying. Putin is said to be moving one slow step at a time towards a big conflict with NATO, with an expected major strike in 18 months' time. If opponents of Russia don't take this seriously, WW3 could start. Germany is reported to be preparing for an attack against NATO, and Sweden has applied to join NATO. A helpful image with timeline from the DM:

Another big march in London
The national pro-Palestine marches are continuing. An estimated 20,000 protesters marched through central London yesterday. Jeremy Corbyn was in the front-line and later made a speech calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

We have now got escalations in the Middle East. It looks like Iran is trying to deplete Israel's Iron Dome, so they can then launch massive attacks and get through.
It is certainly building up. Buckle up, it's going to get scary.

Buckle up, stock up and top up
“It is certainly building up. Buckle up, it's going to get scary.”
This is a good time to look again at the Emergency Preparation thread. I have been using up the oldest tinned and packet food, so I need to build up stocks again. I also plan to top up non-perishable household and other items.

The advantage we have now, is that we have experience. We have a far better idea as to what works, and what does not. In the past, it was all theoretical and conjecture.
Iran and Israel was some posturing between them. Looks like it has died down a bit.
We need to keep an eye out for cyber attacks. Infrastructure hits is a good possibility.

The marches continue
An estimated 100,000 people marched in London today in support of Palestine. The protests are obviously not going to die down. The protesters are not going to go away. Parliament Square was packed again:

The "Free Palestine" movement is artificial. You have paid agitators kicking things off, it is all intentional in sowing discord and division.
Israel is now going all in, now the hostages are pretty much all dead at this point. It won't be much longer before it is over, rather like Ukraine. Russia is now deeply hacked off, and it is now infrastructure attacks between the two now. It's getting nasty.

Another big march in central London
May 18 will be yet another day of major pro-Palestine protests.
It will be the 14th national and 3rd global Day of Action since last October.
Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators are predicted to march from the BBC in Portland Place to Whitehall.

Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators are predicted to march from the BBC in Portland Place to Whitehall. Since then, Israel has been going into Lebanon, to eliminate Hezbollah. And Iran has launched nearly 200 missiles in to Israel, though some hit Palestine and Jordan. Ukraine is in a state near collapse, and will not survive another winter in their war with Russia. They would need Western militaries to intervene, and bolster their forces. That would mean World War Three. I also see Taiwan being invaded by China. The way things are going, it looks more and more on the cards. Interesting times indeed.

Yesterday's march in Central London
Tens of thousands of pro-Palestine demonstrators are said to have turned out yesterday, with a much smaller number of counter-demonstrators. The two sides face off:
