Did you have any particular reason for posting this portevelubols ? A very interesting question... I may have to put some interesting clips in here, maybe some old films that are Public Domain. There are some good ones out there.

While I am thinking about it, here is a scene from an amazing film.
This has been colourised, but it comes from. One of the greatest science fiction films of all time: Metropolis. Yes, it is a silent film, but is quite a film. This is the Maria dance scene from it.

Re-purposed thread
“I may have to put some interesting clips in here, maybe some old films that are Public Domain. There are some good ones out there.“ Avacyn I think that this thread was started by someone who just wanted to attract people to a possibly dodgy and irrelevant site in Eastern Europe. I think that your idea is brilliant, all the more as not only clips but also full-length versions of many of the great silent and other classics are available on YouTube, all ready for a new generation to discover. There are indeed some good ones out there, and they deserve to be brought to the attention of as many people as possible. Metropolis is a fantastic film. A version is on YouTube, and I will watch it next time we have a very rainy day.

UnseenI, I worked that out already. I was being polite, in not saying it. Metropolis is an excellent film, even if it is nearly a century old.It is one of the best science fiction films ever made. M by Fritz Lang is also another excellent film. I might have to start doing film reviews, or something - I watch enough of them...

This silent historical epic film from 1927 has been restored. Here is the trailer: There is quite an effort in restoring old films. You would be surprised the efforts being made. Here is an old film that might be of interest, from Weimar Germany...

I am really glad that people are doing this. They are adding colour and new musical scores, finding lost scenes, repairing film, digitally re-mastering films, creating versions of different lengths...
Another of the great silent epics:

I watch quite a few films, and that includes silent films. Have you ever seen seen the film Safety Last? I think you might enjoy it.
