More background information about the colour purple
Every source of basic information about the colour purple mentions the sea snails and how the extremely high cost of Tyrian purple or Royal purple meant that for many centuries only very eminent people such as priests and emperors were able to wear it. Some dyers later used natural and traditional ingredients such as lichen to produce a purple colour, but this not very satisfactory for several reasons - it faded and washed out for example. It was the – accidental - invention of aniline dyes in 1856 in London by chemist William Perkin (1838-1907) that enabled many more people to wear purple, which he called 'mauveine'. He was only 18 years old at the time! His dyes were brilliant and durable. His discovery changed everything, beginning a long chain of chemistry advances that would make bright, inexpensive, synthetic colours available to everyone and have a huge impact on both fashion and the textile industry. William Perkin in old age and some early samples of his dyes:

Perkin's patented purple takes off
Fashion followers and two top ladies made William Perkin a very rich man: “Luck, however, was clearly on Perkin’s side. At the wedding of one of her daughters, Queen Victoria wore a silk gown dyed with Perkin’s mauve and trimmed with silver lace. No one had ever seen anything like it before and it caused a sensation. By the following year, it was the only colour to be seen in. Europe had succumbed, according to one magazine, to a serious bout of the ‘mauve measles’. www.elledecoration.co.uk/decorating/a32879162/colour-pioneer-sir-william-henry-perkins-mauve/“At this point Perkin had another stroke of luck. Purple came into fashion. The Empress Eugénie was wearing purple in 1857, and everyone wanted it. By 1859 it seemed that every woman with means had turned purple. (The French word mauve was adopted because it brought some extra cachet from the Gallic word for mallow flower.) It was just the time that skirts were ballooning out too, consuming more material and more dye. Suddenly there was real money to be made from organic chemistry.“ londonist.com/2015/08/how-the-colour-purple-was-invented-in-londonThe article says that fashion moved on and red became the new purple, but Willim Perkin had made a name and a fortune for himself and anyway he produced many other colours in his factory. This silk dress from circa 1862 is dyed with William Perkin's original mauve aniline dye. The purple, even though it has faded, has a richness unachievable by natural dyes:

William Perkin High School
In 1858 chemist William Perkin opened his colour factory in Greenford. His name is still remembered there and the locals hold celebrations in his honour. The William Perkin C of E High School was founded in Greenford in 2013. Its uniform is purple:

Pharmaceutical purple: AstraZeneca
AstraZenica is responsible for the controversial purple pill that was featured in the NXIVM cult thread. Reviewers say that this anti-acid drug, which is sold under the brand name Nexium, is effective at first but has nasty side effects. I wonder whether this applies to their virus vaccine. There seems to be some deception and illusion involved in both products. Purple is the AZ brand colour:

Purple - and green - in J.K. Rowling’s own words
Reposted in part because of the purple references: “Witches and wizards often reveal themselves to each other in public by wearing purple or green, often in combination. In Britain (and much of Europe) purple has an association with both royalty and religion. Purple dyes, being costly, were once worn only by those who could afford them; bishops’ rings are traditionally set with amethysts. The combination of purple and green, therefore, is suggestive of both sides of magic: the noble and the ignoble, the helpful and the destructive.” www.pottermore.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/colours

Ecclesiastical and Cadbury purple: the Archbishop of York
Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York, is a new person of interest, He will be holding holding the fort soon when the AB of C takes a break. One of his books has a purple cover. When in his previous post as Bishop of Chelmsford, he criticised Cadbury for its attempts to stop other confectioners using the colour purple: “The senior Essex church figure said that a legal row between Cadbury and a small confectioner over the use of the colour purple on packaging was “demeaning”...Rt Reverend Stephen Cottrell said the confectionery giant should not be “so precious over purple” and urged Cadbury to “relax”. . Bishop Cottrell said: “Cadbury should reflect that before they even existed, the colour purple was around and – perish the thought – after they have gone, it will still be here. www.packagingnews.co.uk/news/bishop-of-chelmsford-calls-on-cadbury-to-relax-on-purple-11-10-2012

Amethysts on the Archbishop's morse
A 'morse' is the clasp for the cope that archbishops wear. The two large amethysts on Justin Welby's morse were worn at Queen Victoria's coronation:

Occult purple: the Comte de Saint Germain
The US Foundation inspired by the works of the philosopher, musician and adventurer the Comte de Saint Germain has been featured in the Sol Invictus threads. The “I AM” activity based on his works has connections to theosophy, Ascended Masters and all that. There are some purple connections too. Saint Germain died in 1784, but the theosophist C. W. Leadbeater said he met him in 1926! “According to Leadbeater, when performing magical rituals in his castle in Transylvania, Saint Germain wears "a suit of golden chain-mail which once belonged to a Roman Emperor; over it is thrown a magnificent cloak of Tyrian purple, with on its clasp a seven-pointed star in diamond and amethyst, and sometimes he wears a glorious robe of violet." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Germain_(Theosophy)St. Germain has been called 'Master of the Violet Flame'. Modern depictions of their spiritual founder by his I AM Movement followers are very romanticised and idealised:

Two more examples of artwork from the I AM Movement – I am not wild about either their style or their colour scheme, in which the Violet Flame plays a large part:

Purple Cambridges
It is strange how men often wear ties that match their wives' outfits. Is this more than just chance and a deliberate decision to wear the same colour?

Purple Oddfellows
The Oddfellows or Odd Fellows are a fraternal organisation similar to the Masons. They have a Royal Purple degree and purple clothing, accessories and paraphernalia. Some of the symbols on this old poster are sinister: These Oddfellows celebrating their 200th anniversary seem harmless enough:

Heaven's Gate and the purple shrouds
Heaven's Gate was a new, cult-like religious movement that was founded in the US in 1974. In 1997, the bodies of 39 members who had committed mass suicide were found. They believed that their souls would be transported to a spaceship trailing the Hale-Bopp comet. The main point of interest here is that it was standard practice for still-living members to cover their dead with a purple cloth. A police photo from the time:

Royal purple deception?
There was a sugary US news item to announce the arrival of the new royal baby, the one allegedly born in America in June. There is no evidence yet that 'Lilibet' actually exists!

More ecclesiastical purple for Shane Vaughn
This right-wing fundamentalist American pastor became a person of interest because of what he said about the Sussexes. He calls himself Professor Toto because he pulls back the curtain of lies and deception in religion and politics. His advertisement above features purple and gold; here are some more:
