Avacyn is this case of interest for any particular reason? Yes. This is the start of the whole house of cards to come tumbling down. They tried to get him for lying, and also the Logan Act. And now? It's all falling apart. Judge Jackson has yet to dismiss the case, clearly getting his marching orders from Obama. He is calling for Amicus Briefs against him, but Flynn has had others file Briefs on his side too. Once this is done, Judge Jackson is going to end up going to court himself, for corruption in the case. He already has hired an attorney, meaning he knows what he is doing, and that he is guilty. This case gets dropped, it then means that FISA, Mueller... it all comes crashing down. Also, Trump's Impeachment trial becomes utterly void, too. So, this is very significant, indeed.

I've always felt that this Trump impeachment charade is simply about getting him reelected by making people who voted Republican last time, and small-d democrats, feel like the Democrats are out to get them by trying to get rid of the President they voted into office.
The elites want a Trump victory in November. He's their guy; he's done almost everything they've wanted him to. You can tell this by the cack-handed, half-hearted efforts at attacking him, using toxic nonsense like Russigate or meaningless silly tweets he posts. If the establishment really wanted to stop Trump, the most effective way (other than picking a decent candidate) to do it would be to highlight all the broken promises. He only just beat Clinton last time, he can't afford to lose many voters, so the Democrats hammering home Trump's failures would devastate his chances of reelection by getting those key voters in key states to stay at home.
Instead they go the route of this impeachment farce and seeing Putin around every corner. It makes people angry and want to vote for Trump just to get back at the people trying to overturn their 2016 vote. Tulsi Gabbard (who I massively respect) basically told the Democrats this would happen. I don't believe it's due to Democrat stupidity, but deliberate reverse psychology.
(None of this is to say that Biden is in any way anti-establishment. Trump is their pick but Biden is fine insurance).
Incidentally, they've done the same in Britain with Brexit. Remoaners acting like salty, insufferable [swear words] over the past 4 years has made Leavers and even Remainers who respect democracy double down on Brexit. It's been a godsend to the likes of Farage and Johnson and Rees-Mogg and all the rest of these terrible people, who have used overwhelming pro-Brexit public feeling to get approval for all sorts of neoliberal policies that are terrible for working people and would otherwise be unpopular but which escape scrutiny because "get Brexit done".
I even know people personally who voted Leave for immigration restrictionist reasons who now argue for more immigration from Africa and Asia because at least it won't be the EU forcing us to do it. In other words, advocate against your own core beliefs to pwn the libs and tell those Germans where to shove it. Maddening.

Well, Flynn is now completely free. The case was kept going by Judge Sullivan, even when instructed to drop the case.
Trump intervened with a pardon, and correctly stating Flynn was innocent.
So, case closed, happily.
