Some time ago, I managed to stumble onto something quite peculiar, which certainly gives pause for thought...

Yes, Queen Elizabeth II, along with her husband Prince Philip, are Druids. Here are some pictures of the pair, from the event:
As we can see, this was quite a ceremony, with both Life magazine and Associated Press both being present. There is also film footage, possible a news reel. I have yet to find the full footage. Pathe have also recorded the event, and I think they are the source of the film footage I saw in a documentary. Here is the link to their footage:

And here is their description of their footage:
Life has since removed the page archiving and describing the event, but someone made a direct copy of the description, so here it is:

I emboldened a name, for reasons that will become clear in a little while. But let us focus, for a moment, upon Elizabeth II. Who is she, exactly?

And now, for an interesting twist: her parents were Druids, too!

However, this is not the end of it. She seems to have been participant to at least one other ceremony:

So... what is going on with this Druidry? And why would the future head of the Church of England - a Christian denomination - initiate as part of another religion? And speaking of Church of England leaders...

Look at his name, and then the name of the man who initiated Queen Elizabeth II - It's the same family name. Which begs the question: are they related? And why would a Church leader be getting initiated as well?
So, what exactly is going on here?
To quote:
Modern Druid rituals and beliefs spring from a more recent tradition, the late 18th, early 19th century Romantic fascination with ancient Britain and its mystery religions. It is that tradition we see then-Princess Elizabeth celebrating in the LIFE picture from August 6, 1946 where she is being led into the Sacred Circle of Bards at the national Eisteddfod at Mountain Ash, Glamorgan, Wales. We owe the fantastic spectacle of the future Queen of England and Defender of the Faith donning the green robes of the novitiate and being invested a bard in a Druidic ceremony to one man: Edward Williams, a.k.a. Iolo Morganwg, stonemason, poet, Welsh nationalist, manuscript collector and most able forger.

Queen Elizabeth Meets the Druids
Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) in a robe of green is led by an acolyte to Archdruid Crwys Williams, who will initiate her into the Mystic Circle of Bards at the national Eisteddfod, or festival, at Mountain Ash, Glamorgan, Wales, August 6, 1946. Men
and women who have made a significant and lasting contribution to Welsh
culture are sometimes initiated or ceremonially welcomed into Druidical mysteries. But
again -- there's no certainty that these mysteries, so many hundreds of
years after the original Druids thrived, are related in any way to the
actual practices, beliefs, and rituals of the ancients themselves.

I emboldened a name, for reasons that will become clear in a little while. But let us focus, for a moment, upon Elizabeth II. Who is she, exactly?
The Queen's Early Life
The Queen was born at 2.40am on 21 April 1926 at 17 Bruton Street in Mayfair, London. She was the first child of The Duke and Duchess of York, who later became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
At the time she stood third in line of succession to the throne after Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII), and her father, The Duke of York. But it was not expected that her father would become King, or that she would become Queen.
The Princess was christened Elizabeth Alexandra Mary in the private chapel at Buckingham Palace. She was named after her mother, while her two middle names are those of her paternal great-grandmother, Queen Alexandra, and paternal grandmother, Queen Mary.
The Princess's early years were spent at 145 Piccadilly, the London house taken by her parents shortly after her birth, and at White Lodge in Richmond Park.
She also spent time at the country homes of her paternal grandparents, King George V and Queen Mary, and her mother's parents, the Earl and Countess of Strathmore.
In 1930, Princess Elizabeth gained a sister, with the birth of Princess Margaret Rose. The family of four was very close. When she was six years old, her parents took over Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park as their own country home. In the grounds of Royal Lodge Princess Elizabeth had her own small house, Y Bwthyn Bach (the Little Cottage), which was given to her by the people of Wales in 1932.Princess Elizabeth's quiet family life came to an end in 1936, when her grandfather, King George V, died.
His eldest son came to the throne as King Edward VIII, but, before the end of the year, King Edward VIII had decided to give up the throne in order to marry the woman he loved, Mrs Wallis Simpson. Upon his abdication, Princess Elizabeth's father
acceded to the throne as King George VI, and in 1937 the two Princesses attended their parents' coronation in Westminster Abbey.Princess Elizabeth was now first in line to the throne, and a figure of even more intense public interest.

So... what is going on with this Druidry? And why would the future head of the Church of England - a Christian denomination - initiate as part of another religion? And speaking of Church of England leaders...
Dr Rowan Williams, dismissing suggestions that he was dabbling in
paganism, joined blue-hooded druids ranked behind a golden harp to be
admitted into the Welsh Gorsedd of Bards.
