I see that you have been very busy Lavendel . There is a lot to catch up with. “I find the Cornwalls a very funny and jokey couple. They have their old baby boomers fans who follow them around.” There are some more pictures of this couple on other monarchy threads. “I think during charles Birthday she will finaly shade her skin of the bad snake evil stepmother to queen of the commonwealth. “ I just don’t know. How much of what we see is PR and image management? She is said to be a nice, kind person. She does often wear lovely clothes: I love that big dark green velvet hat in your picture. Fish & chips is a very famous British takeaway food, and as you said she loves cake:

The Eden Project
The Eden Project is a big tourist attraction in Cornwall. There are thousands of different plant species, some in the gardens outside and some in giant biome domes. I have been there, and found the tropical biome very hot indeed! Prince Charles’s interest in conservation and organic farming is one of the best things about him. He and Camilla have visited the Eden Project:

Cornish revolt in 2012
“Anti-royalists will descend on Cornwall today to rally support for a campaign to abolish the Duchy of Cornwall, Prince Charles' £728m land and property portfolio. Campaigners want the 53,000-hectare estate, most of which lies in the south-west, to be handed over to local people to boost the rural economy. The protest comes amid growing disquiet in the region that the Duchy may be putting its own financial interests before those of the community. The Duchy of Cornwall, which provides an income for the Prince, his sons and the Duchess of Cambridge, owns land in 23 counties and made a profit of £18m last year. In June, it pushed through a plan to build one hundred houses and a Waitrose store on quality farmland east of Truro. Local councillor, Bert Biscoe, said the development marked the beginning of "the battle for Cornwall's land." He said: ‘ Charles does not accept his constitutional responsibilities to Cornwall, he just wants the money. He says 'stand up for rural life and the farmer', and then builds a supermarket and a hundred houses on good quality farmland.’” www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/give-us-your-duchy-demand-for-charles-728m-cornish-estate-8190493.htmlMost of the royals seem to be spongers and money-grabbers now.

She knows how to deal with his demons and fidgety nature (which i see in harry) During the state visit of the Dutch King couple Camila and Charles have pulled their best without over shadowing the queen . Charles was there to support her maj in every way and Camila restrained but sovereign in the evening event. She choose her wedding day design for the Victorian order dinner. I liked her design its intensive work with it being imposing. More like Indian maharaj designs. She wore her jewelery well and didn’t have the over the top see me look you see with kate and meg.

UnseenI I really enjoy reading about your inside view. Visting the eden project must have been informative and interesting. That you visited Cornwall too and can give uo upclose opinion is valuable. I also like that you bought prince of wales beauty products and you have tasted them. For me here all this is far away. The Eden Project

I posted a comment from a cornish family about her opion of Charles. He really seems to be greedy. I really hope when he becomes king with alot of recourses he will give back to Cornwall as they have supported his wales family for years. But i fear kate and William will continue the plundering . Kate is high maintenance. They have three children. Who need food and inheritance and William has a complex of wanty to show he is richness to his other richer friends. ———- Cornish revolt in 2012

The occasion was the state visit of the Dutch King and Queen. I saw the procession as they all went towards Buckingham Palace. I only saw her for a few seconds, but her white hair and big hat helped me to identify her. This is what I saw:

More about Cornwall
There are several aspects to consider, some good some bad. Cornwall is the second poorest region in northern Europe. Many of the locals leave the area for the big cities because there are more and better employment opportunities. When I was there the fishing industry was the main topic of interest, and many of the locals didn’t much care about what was happening in places such as the Middle East. They tolerate the hordes of visitors because of the income, but don’t really like them. Cornwall is a very popular tourist destination. It is a wonderful place to visit. The air is clean and the sea is clear. I went on a sea safari and saw dolphins, gannets and a huge basking shark; I took a scenic helicopter ride out to the Scilly Isles and back; I went for long rides on the local buses and saw much of the county that way. I went to Land’s End, the extreme western point where the land stops and there is nothing between Cornwall and America but sea, rocks and a few islands. I had some good quality fish & chips in this café at Land’s End:

Cornwall and Harry Potter
Many Cornish names begin with ‘Tre-‘. Professor of Divination Sybil Trelawney bears one of the most famous Cornish names. It is sometimes spelled Trelawny. Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour’s home Shell Cottage is on the beach near the (fictional) village of Tinworth in Cornwall, which is where Dobby is buried. Although the books mention Cornwall, the actual filming was done in Wales. Blue Cornish Piskies or Pixies run wild in the classroom in Chamber of Secrets.

Harry Potter and the Cornish Pasties
Cornish pasties are mentioned in Harry Potter books: “’Oh…okay,’ said Ron..’.It’s all right,’ he said, helping himself to a Cornish pasty, while Mrs. Weasley looked stern...” — Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Mrs Weasley sent an assortment of pasties to Harry on his birthday. There is a big scandal involving Harry Potter and Cornish pasties. We have seen that even Prince Charles takes sides in the ‘jam or cream first’ war; there is another battle over what is a real Cornish pasty and what is not: “AUTHOR JK Rowling has been blasted over knock-off Cornish pasties at a Harry Potter theme park. The Three Broomsticks café at Universal Studios in Florida advertises 'tasty British fare’ including 'Cornish Pasties’. But genuine pasties can only be from Cornwall after being given protected food status in 2011. The American imposters are not crimped but sealed — which the Cornish Pasty Association says makes them ‘not Cornish’. Marion Symonds, 53, who runs the Portreath Bakery in Cornwall, said: ‘You would think someone of JK Rowling’s intelligence would be able to get this right.’ Ms Rowling is heavily involved in every aspect of the Potter theme parks, including the food.” firenewsfeed.com/news/486742

Trelawny: the Cornish national song
The stirring, patriotic song Trelawny is the unofficial national anthem of Cornwall. It is thought to refer to Sir John Trelawny, a Cornish royalist leader who was imprisoned in the Tower of London in 1628.
Although it says that 20,000 Cornish men will cross the Tamar river and march on London to rescue Trelawny, this never happened. He was tried and acquitted.
This is the chorus:
And shall Trelawny live? Or shall Trelawny die? Here's twenty thousand Cornish men Will know the reason why!

"For me here all this is far away." Lavendel so are King Ludwig II and the magical castles on the Rhine for me! We are lucky to have videos and the Internet. It may be second best, but it is much better than nothing. "That you visited Cornwall too and can give upclose opinion is valuable." You probably know as much about Cornwall as I do now, and there are many images online. I just wish that I had known it all when I was there. Britain is a small island with a lot of coastline. No one lives more than 70 to 80 miles from the sea and day trips to the seaside are both possible and popular. While I can easily get from London to the Sussex coast, Cornwall is too far for me to get there and back on the same day - only the royals with their helicopters can do that! London is very good for some things - it was easy for me to go and see the royals last week - but the air quality is very bad. People in London with breathing problems have moved to Cornwall and found big improvments in their health. People with poor career prospects in Cornwall have moved to London and found much better jobs.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall
As we know, Camilla is not the first Duchess of Cronwall, as all the ladies who married the many Princes of Wales have held that title - among all the others they get. However, she is the first to have this as her main title. It was felt that making her Princess of Wales would cause confusion with Princess Diana. Because of this, 'Cornwall' has been getting into the news very frequently ever since they married in 2005. I wonder what effect this has had. Perhaps it has helped to attract attention from other countries to the area.

The Cornwalls in Africa ————————- CharlesCamilla are on a 9 day visit to Africa. They arrived last night. I have to say they look loved up like the Sussexes only Charles hands and swollen finger are not elegant and he dies not hold his body straight, while leading camila around. Camila dress is Maharajah style; decent though and gold drapes everywhere.

The Role of Princess Consort fits Camilla well. She does not aggressively grab for attention although she uses decrete fashion to look sovereign and content

Cornwall background information Lavendel I am glad that you like that post about the Sherlock Holmes tribute books, which you are welcome to copy. I was not sure where to put it, or even that it was worth posting. There is a lot of information about Cornwall that is very interesting but not really relevant. There are only a few hundred people whose first language is Cornish; I guess that they are very old. There are a few thousand who have learned it as a second language; some are academics. There is no direct connection with Prince Charles, but there is a movement to restore the Cornish language and even achieve partial independence. So if Cornwall has its own government, what would it mean for Prince Charles’s income? Even the US knows about the new Cornish nationalism. Here Lisa Simpson is chanting "Rydhsys rag Kernow lemmyn" ('Free Cornwall Now" ) in Kernewek - the Cornish language:

In Germany we say its not the destination which is important but rather the way and all the experiences collected , connections established are important. We are collecting info here which may seem unimportant of face value but may be the link we need in the future. I have been reading all the info you are posting and many answer questions i have had. Considering you have been to Cornwall I consider you our resident expert . I have a fantancised view of Cornwall because of romantic films they show on tv here. From your posting i get a down to earth view. Which is really captivating. Here there is not much information on Cornwall. I dont have the energy to research as i did for Sussexes county because i feel kind of melancholic that we are in transition; Charles is moving to the king stool and queen will be gone and William will become prince of wales. Angela merkle is stepping down, brexit is coming and lavender blue green markle -Mountbatten-windsor. All too much for one year. Normally by this time I should be having winter sleep but 2018 does not seem to end. So UnseenI please keep posting whatever you find on Cornwall no matter how small. I found my enlightenment after posting on King Arthur and Camelot. Recently there was a documentary on German tv on Arthur and their research was as interesting as ours and i realised we know more than tv experts as there some research I found and they didn’t. You never know what will be unveiled in the process.

“We are collecting info here which may seem unimportant of face value but may be the link we need in the future.“
You are right. We should follow our intuitions. I have a few more Cornwall-related topics and leads to investigate: pirates, stone circles, the Scilly Isles, more royal visits, books…
“Here there is not much information on Cornwall.”
Another option we have for seeing Cornwall without actually going there is webcams. Unfortunately there is not much action at this time of year and the hours of daylight are getting fewer and fewer, so there is not much to see.
“Normally by this time I should be having winter sleep but 2018 does not seem to end.“
Does this mean that you usually hibernate for the winter like a squirrel!

The Mud Maid of Heligan
The Lost Gardens of Heligan are a big Cornish attraction. I have not seen them myself but there is a lot of information online. The restoration after decades of neglect was the sort of project that is of great interest to Prince Charles. Here he is on the rope bridge there: There is a strange figure made from rocks and plants known as the Sleeping Goddess or Mud Maid that he would have seen on his visit:
