Why the Germans come to Cornwall
“Germany represents the biggest international market for Cornwall.” So why is this? They have seen it on TV: “Bizarrely, the German fascination with Cornwall is in great part due to the popularity of an English writer of romantic fiction. Cornish-born Rosamunde Pilcher is a household name in Germany, where her books have sold millions and where TV dramatisations of her stories are staple viewing. Their setting - amid locations such as the 16th Century Prideaux Place, near Padstow, and the coast line between Chapel Porth and St Agnes Head - has led to a continuous flow of German families to the area, keen to enjoy Pilcher’s Cornwall for themselves. ‘The vast majority of Germans live far away from the coast so they love visiting an area where there is so much of it,’ said Mr Lenz. ‘The south west coastal path is very popular with them, along with the great mix of historic attractions and gardens, romantic little villages and historic towns which feature in Pilcher's films.’” www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/08/05/germans-flock-south-west-confused-difference-devon-cornwall/What effect would Brexit have on German tourism to Cornwall? Would they go to Ireland instead?

Everybody comes to Berlin Lavendel you said that the Cornwalls are visiting Germany soon. I didn’t know that. I said that heads of state and other important people all visit many countries; it is part of the job. It is quite a coincidence though that Charles and Camilla will visit Berlin and Bavaria, which have been featured in many posts. I don’t know anything about Leipzig; I wonder if there is any special reason for going there now. Official visits are sometimes a cover for something else. I hope that the Germans will bake many cakes in preparation. We should get some good pictures! When it comes to the monarchy and the government, anything could happen now. Maybe the Windsors really will escape to Germany.

Very funny. Will you be going out to see the show? yes I wish shower now and hit the road. i will pickup a alligator toy on the way and flowers.I am unable to get crocodile oils as soon the program is that the show will be at brandenburg door at 16:00 uhrs with the city lord mayor. then a reception at the ambassador with lots of organic food from the regional farmers : then tommorrow in leipzig so the sussexes can publish their pictures without stealing attension as leipzig is small and thursday in munich and all the attension will be there the same meet the mayor then receptions. He is being sold as ÖKO-Bauer here . which translates Organic Farmer. Germans love Organic Farming at the moment of climate change so he is a celebrity for being the first to scream climate change ; So they highlight his OKO-Bauer profession to draw people to him as other than using his heritage which may allienate some who think they dont like titles. So the heading is Organic farmer is in town lets bring out all the organic products and support climate change.

The organic farming is one of his best aspects.

Our cake jokes are not cruel! Was the crowd at Brandenburg Gate very big? UnseenI ; am more relaxed now to answer you more clearly. I have been excessive with my cake joke. So when the real camila stood infront of me; i was impressed. She is very kind but also funny. I went home feeling bad about myself. I was overwelmed with all. Today i feel better and i dont think cake jokes are fun. I the brandenburg Gate ------- i arrived there two hours early. I found a nice place too sit to watch as the organisers prepared and police blocked the street. i thought many people who are standing around were waiting too. As many left it hit me that they were tourists unaware charles is coming. the police were delaxed and the stage construction guys too. Around one hour to the visit a few berliners started arriving . A small crown built. When i listened in ; i realised that majority were american , canadian, visitors staying berlin for spring who knew charles was coming. I found a place to stand. next to me were two berliners and later a lady came. These are the only locals i saw. 10 minutes to charles arrival the police blocked all outer routes which means many tourists were locked in the security circle and were given flags by two organisers. the tourists were happy to be at the right time in the moment charles visits. when they arrived the tourists started shouting. the locals germans were more curious but not shouty. The couple hard a walk around greeting tourists and finaly the locals who were in one corner. After the greetings they took pictures more greetings then they went into a one of the oldest hotel near the Gate Adlon hotel. After a while a guy came started telling people to move on because the prince will be having tea and important meetings which will take hours. People refused to leave and waited . Local tv crews stated making reporting from Brandenburg gate and near the hotel. With time may people left and several homeless, die hard political activists started stripping naked carrying signs against royals/bankers, Roma travellers set their camps infront next to the royal embassy cars , beggers sat infront of the hotel waiting, young students on spring break started grouping up with phones in hard waiting to catch a picture of the prince. The a lady came to me and told me they left the hotel through the back door. It was getting dark and strange so i left too , soon after some fat old german ladies in wearing royal hats:- who may have been charles age started behaving like groupies waiting for a rockstar.

I hope that it wasn't too tiring and alarming for you. I wonder why they left by the back entrance.
Royal hats? At least you saw some interesting people.
I wonder whether this visit achieved anything in connection with Brexit.

charles got lots of gifts for his grandchild. May will determin if the visit was productive.
Charles didnt get to name his grandchild otherwise he would have chosen european name like frank , francis or francosoire franz. the sussexes have not political capitalist brain like charles.
in berlin yes the crowd got strange as the night broke. But it was nice to see what kind of fans charles has.
it was nice to see them. I made lots of pictures. I am thinking to print one and send camila charlies Angel

camilas brother died mysteriously, dianas brother married many times and he is strange, megs brother is strange too just like kates brother. The sisters achieve greatness but the brothers become losers . very strange.

I have noticed that since meg joined the rf the mystery is gone. Americans are digging deeper into that family history of windsors in a heavy breathing manner. They are harrasing opponents and killing the fun. many blogs have them as followers so to keep them entertained blogs are becoming daring and getting unnecessary attension or they get reported by megs or kates fans to get them offline.
royal dish has closed their meg forum to none long term members as it was attracting aggressive people.
we have not attracted them because we mix our topics and themes which need patience and time to follow. They also think we are too david conspirators.
lets hope we can weather this storm. if we survive until autumn we will be fine

The recent visit to Germany
We didn’t get many good pictures this time. I wonder what this visit was supposed to achieve. I like these pictures of the bees and the chicken, taken when the Cornwalls visited an organic farm near Munich:

Cornwall and titanium
Titania the Fairy Queen has recently joined the party. Her name is derived from the Titans in Greek mythology, and so is the name of the element titanium. Titanium is often mentioned along with tungsten - in advertisements for wedding rings for example - and we have found some Cornwall/tungsten connections. By coincidence, there is also a Cornwall/titanium connection. Sir Humphrey Davy, who discovered the elements calcium and potassium, is not the only Cornishman to have made a name for himself as a pioneering chemist. Fellow Cornishman William Gregor (1761 – 1817), clergyman, chemist and mineralogist, discovered the elemental metal titanium in 1791. He called it Manaccan after a Cornish village. A few years later it was independently rediscovered by a German chemist, who named it titanium. The Reverend William Gregor, original discoverer of titanium:

Hog heaven for Camilla!
Strawberry sable or sablé was on the menu at last night’s state banquet. I had never heard of it, but the good old DM has a picture of one of the many variations on the basic recipe. I wonder whether Camilla offered to finish up any leftovers - 170 people were there and maybe some of them didn’t like it. It looks delicious:

Camilla and the cake again
She visited a charity in Scotland yesterday, and was asked to cut the anniversary cake. Maybe she is saying that she can’t eat it all herself so would anyone else like a piece:

Two near misses in the air for Camilla
There were two alarming incidents within one hour last year. I don’t know why the DM has only just reported them. They may have exaggerated the danger: “The Duchess of Cornwall came within seconds of disaster when her helicopter had two dramatic near misses on the same day. “The Sikorsky S76 from the Queen's Flight twice had to veer away to avoid mid-air collisions while flying Camilla from Sandringham to her home in Wiltshire. The helicopter first came within nine seconds of a head-on crash at a combined speed of 260mph with an aircraft carrying parachutists. The maroon Sikorsky was then descending to land 45 minutes later when it had to make another emergency manoeuvre at 161mph to avoid a glider. The pilot said he was fortunate to have spotted the glider half a mile away as he 'had been flying into the sun'. Both incidents, detailed in UK Airprox Board reports, happened on July 25 last year after Camilla and Prince Charles had visited the Sandringham Flower Show.” www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7244703/Camillas-helicopter-swerve-avoid-collisions-TWICE-one-hour-flew-home.htmlIt is interesting that the commenters have little sympathy. They mainly talk disapprovingly about the expense and the effect on the environment. Here is a good one: “She actually landed in a playing field next to my house last week. Beforehand there were plain clothes police and four police motorcyclists and when she arrived two cars pulled up to take her and three other people away. Then four people, the pilot and three others stood around for a hour before flying off. Wondered how much all that cost the taxpayer.”

Those near misses do sound strange, UnseenI - I would have thought that there would be an instruction from air traffic control to 'get out the bloody way' to any aircraft within quite a wide vicinity of any aircraft of the Queen's Flight. Mind you, after having had an aborted landing on one flight into the UK 5 years ago that was due to the plane we were on being too close to another, a very scary experience, I found a website listing near misses in the UK - I was shocked at how many there are. It's holidays in the UK or via ferry or Eurotunnel for me now!

magpiejack I have flown just a few times and I hated it. It is mainly London buses and the occasional train for me now. Camilla is said to be terrified of flying; by marrying Prince Charles she has let herself in for many trips and royal tours involving short and long flights.

Camilla’s car accident in 1997
This has come up on another thread. As usual, there are misunderstandings, conflicting accounts and much speculation. Her supporters say one thing and her detractors another. Some say that it was Camilla who caused the accident; she hit the other car when she was temporarily distracted while travelling at speed. Some say that she fled the scene not because she thought people were trying to kill her but because she panicked when she saw what she had done. Others say she was just looking for a place with a mobile phone signal. The royal chronicler Penny Junor says that many reports are incorrect: “In a state of shock, Camilla then got out of her car and went over to the car she had collided with. She looked in through the window at the woman driver, screamed loudly, panicked and ran off. The Prince's policeman found her sitting by the side of her car in the road, crying. She was bruised and very severely shaken. The Prince was also shaken and the accident made him realize how vulnerable Camilla was.” alt.gossip.royalty.narkive.com/Kw5uZNcP/the-true-facts-of-camilla-s-hit-and-run-via-st-james-s-palaceThis is the car of the other driver, who did not press charges:
