Wake up little BoJo: the royal family needs you
There may be a meeting soon in which Princes Charles and William make some big decisions about the future of the royal family. There is talk of a 'soft regency' in which no official announcements are made but the Queen takes a back seat. There may also be a final decision about the future of Princes Andrew and Harry. BoJo should be involved in this. There may be a part for him to play here.

Today's the day
The Queen is now 95 years old. I suspect that she will cut public engagements right down but not officially retire. This means that the people in the direct line will have to take on more work, moving up one place. So now we wait for Prince Charles to emerge from his Welsh hide-away and start behaving regally. Prince Charles: Defender of all Faiths
Prince Charles will be the head of the Church of England if and when he becomes king. Will he remain loyal or will he promote diversity? From 2017: “The Prince had earlier considered adopting the title "Defender of the Faiths", to incorporate other religions into his Coronation, before proposing "Defender of Faith"” An episode of the spoof TV series The Windsors features his intended role: “Charles is taking his new role as Defender of All Faiths very seriously, so when the Highgrove village branch leader of the Church of Satan invites him to officiate a Black Mass, Charles accepts - much to Camilla's dismay.“ 'Prince Charles' with some religious leaders:

Prince Charles calls the Crown his Precious in a scene from The Windsors; he can't wait to try it on. Maybe there is a message here:

Has BoJo gone too far?
Claims have been made that last September Boris Johnson said in an angry rant 'let the bodies pile up' - he was against any future lockdowns. He has denied that he said this. Michael Gove has joined Prince Andrew and Justin Welby in making the evasive kind of denial that suggests that an allegation could well be true: “Michael Gove today stopped short of categorically denying claims Boris Johnson said he would rather see 'bodies piling up' than lock the country down again. The idea that he would say any such thing I find incredible,' Mr Gove said. 'I was in that room, I never heard language of that kind.' www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9511865/Ministers-slam-claim-PM-said-bodies-pile-new-lockdown.htmlThis sounds damning to me! BoJo has other major problems to deal with. Where will it all end?

Welby is about to take his break
He obviously needs to get away from all the pressure for a while. Will he return to his duties after his summer sabbatical or will he decide to step down? Will he wait to see what happens in the Royal Family before deciding? “You look very tired: you need to have a nice long rest”:

Willi und die Windzors: the UK fires the royals Willi und die Windzors is a German TV comedy film from 1996. Britain becomes a republic because of the many scandals involving the royals. Immoral behaviour and the high costs of maintaining them cause Parliament to vote to abolish the monarchy and expel the royal family. All of the ' Windzors' apart from the Yorks move to Germany, where they hope some relations will take them in. They arrive, penniless, on the doorstep of furniture salesman Willi Bettenberg, their nearest relative... The plot-line sounds preposterous and the actors don't much resemble their namesakes, some of whom are no longer with us. However, some fiction turns out to be predictive so maybe the monarchy's days really are numbered. Willi ends up marrying Princess Diana:

The incredible shrinking royal family
With the Duke of Edinburgh gone and two princes in disgrace, there are not many pieces left on the chessboard. How many princes in the line of succession will ever be king? Is BoJo still in with a chance? Will he be the last man standing? He looks almost like his old self again.

Masonic money and the Church of England
We did say a while back that Meghan Markle and Archbishop Justin Welby might have been assigned to discredit or even bring down the Monarchy and the Church of England between them! There are parallels in that both institutions are under attack and appear to have been infiltrated. Lambeth Palace has said that Justin Welby is not and never has been a Freemason, yet he appears to favour the Craft. He was criticised for permitting the holding of a Masonic service in Canterbury Cathedral in 2017: “In blatant defiance of a recent ruling against Freemasonry by an ecclesiastical judge of the Church of England, Canterbury Cathedral agreed to hold the service of thanksgiving to celebrate 300 years of Freemasonry after receiving a donation of £300,000 ($374,520) from the Masons for the restoration of the North-West Transept in the Cathedral. This is in complete violation of the spirit of the ruling by Chancellor Geoffrey Tattersall (Queen's Counsel) who as the judge in the Consistory Court of the Diocese of Carlisle banned a family from having the Freemasons square and compass emblem engraved on the gravestone of a Freemason who died after devoting much of his life to the organization. The set square and compass is a Masonic symbol and can be found on a number of large wooden tables at Liverpool Cathedral where Justin Welby was Dean before becoming Bishop of Durham and Archbishop of Canterbury. While Welby was Dean of Liverpool he accepted a gift of £69,000 ($86,139) by the West Lancashire Freemasons' Charity, which was used to install a new elevator in the Lady Chapel in Liverpool Cathedral despite the uneasiness many felt about Welby's and the Cathedral's close association with Freemasonry.” Ihttps://virtueonline.org/welbys-masonic-service-canterbury-cathedral-odds-christian-faith Did Welby accept the donations just for financial reasons, or is there more to it? He wrote a book about money and materialism:

Masonic/Satanic fashion show in an Anglican church
The African dancers and bongo drums at Justin Welby's enthronement and the gospel choir at the Sussexes' wedding were bad enough, but Anglican churches have seen much worse. Justin Welby is always speaking out against things that he has no direct connection with, but he is not putting his own house in order. A church that can be hired for events allowed a rather sinister fashion show to take place in 2017: “This is the altar of the parish church of St Andrew Holborn. It is desecrated with all manner of demonic symbolism, being the backdrop for what was widely publicised as a Satanic Fashion Show:” Some of the creations of the fashion designer:

Anti-monarchy billboards
The writing is on the wall! The Republic organisation is campaigning for the monarchy to end when the Queen dies. Billboards are being installed in various cities. There are 12 so far, with more planned for September and afterwards if Republic can raise more money.

See the royals live on stage!
The TV series The Windsors has been adapted for the stage. The Windsors: Endgame is having a ten-week run in a London theatre. There seems little reverence for the monarchy here:

Prince Charles and Prince Andrew are still in the news for their dubious dealings. Republic supporters have been active in Wales. Prince Charles made a prophetic pronouncement a while back:

The Queen's health
There have been a few announcements about the Queen and her health recently. She has been in hospital overnight; she has been ordered to rest so has not been walking her dogs. She has been advised to stop drinking alcohol. She has been using a walking stick for the first time. She missed a church service. She watches a lot of late-night television. The rest was intended to build her up for the Cop26 summit, but now she isn't going. There are plans for her to travel around the country for her Platinum Jubilee celebrations next year, of which the highlights are scheduled for June. Anything could happen between now and then.

Make Monarchy History?
Princes Charles, Andrew and Harry are not too popular; the Queen has been 'resting' and may not resume some of her activities and duties. 2022 looks like being a crucial year for the Windsors. Will there be a huge outbreak of patriotism and show of support for the monarchy because of the Platinum Jubilee or will people demonstrate a lack of interest or even hostility? The Republic organisation can smell blood in the water:

The cost of Jubilee celebrations
Next year's Platinum Jubilee celebrations may well provide the Republic organisation with yet more ammunition to use against the monarchy. It may be unwise of local authorities to spend huge amounts of public money at a time when more and more funding is needed for social services and the NHS. The amount of money spent on George V's Silver Jubilee, which was celebrated in the middle of a financial depression, caused some controversy; this caricature of King George and Queen Mary is an example of the criticism they received:

Willie Hamilton, the clockwork doll, the floozy and the twerp
Willie Hamilton (1917 to 2000) was a Labour MP who had very strong republican views. He wrote the anti-royalist book My Queen and I (1975), in which he called the Queen a 'clockwork doll', Princess Margaret a 'floozy' and Prince Charles a 'twerp'. I wonder what he would have said about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry! With his book, and meeting the clockwork doll:

Fictional successors to the Queen: Ethel Shroake
There are a few works of fiction in which the entire British royal family is wiped out and someone with a very remote connection inherits the throne. A very unlikely person becomes queen in the cult film The Bed Sitting Room (1969). Mrs Ethel Shroake, the Queen's former charlady, becomes queen herself as she is the closest in succession after a nuclear war has destroyed everything including Buckingham Palace. Dandy Nichols played the part of the new monarch, dressing in the uniform the Queen used to wear at the Trooping the Colour ceremony:

Fictional successors to the Queen: Johnny English
The James Bond spoof spy film Johnny English(2003) stars Rowan Atkinson in the title role. The Crown Jewels get stolen; Johnny English learns that the villain Pascal Sauvage, who is a descendent of the Stuarts, plans to make himself king by getting himself crowned by a fake Archbishop of Canterbury - Sauvage has forced the Queen to abdicate by threatening the corgis! Johnny English attends the 'coronation', steals the crown, falls on the throne knocking Sauvage off and gets crowned instead. In his first act as king, English has Sauvage arrested and restores the Queen to the throne, simply requesting a knighthood as a reward. Pascal Sauvage, all ready to go: Johnny English, the new King of England:

Fictional successors to the monarchy: Jack Green
Here is another example of a story in which the entire British royal family is wiped out in a major disaster and someone with a very remote connection inherits the throne. The alternate history novel Headlong (1980) by actor/playwright Emlyn Williams tells of the unexpected death in 1935 of all British royals in a freak accident and the ascension of a most unlikely heir to the British throne as a result. 1935 was the year of King George V's Silver Jubilee celebrations. In the novel, the Celebration Luncheon, which all members of the royal family will attend, is preceded by the launch on its maiden voyage of the airship Jubilee Sky Whale from Windsor Great Park. In a disaster similar to that of the real-life airship Hindenberg, it explodes and crashes in flames incinerating all the occupants of the royal grandstand. Every single one of the 27 royals in the line of succession is dead. A young Cornish actor named Jack Green/John Sandring is discovered to be a descendant of the royals: he is the son of the secret son of Prince Albert Victor, George V's elder brother who died young. He becomes King John II. He finds the life very restrictive, and abdicates after 200 days in favour of his private secretary William Willingham, who also has royal blood. William is crowned William V. An actor stepping down after not being in the royal family for very long? I have heard something like that before! The book and the doomed airship Hindenberg:

Fictional successors to the monarchy: Ralph Jones
The American comedy film King Ralph (1991) is very loosely based on the above-mentioned novel Headlong. As usual, the entire British royal family is wiped out in a major disaster and someone with a very remote connection inherits the throne. The fictional king and all the other royals are killed in a freak accident: they are electrocuted while having a mass portrait photograph taken outside Buckingham Palace. After days of searching, a living heir is found, American Ralph Jones. The king and queen and the other royals being electrocuted, and the arrival of the new-found heir: The new King Ralph:

Easter and the Queen
The Queen did not attend today's Maundy Service at Windsor Castle, and she is expected to miss the service on Easter Sunday too. If she can't manage the usual annual engagements, she won't be able to take on many extra ones. I wonder how many Jubilee events she will be seen at. Maundy Thursday in 1957: This is the 2016 event:
